HOUSE-BLIND.

. SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 296,144, dated April 1, 1884.

To all whom it 112 035 concern.-

Be it known that I, HORACE B. DAVIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lexington, county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful House-Blind, of which the following is a specification.

My object in this invention is to construct a house-blind so as to prevent the sun shining in, and at the sametime let in as much light and air as possible. This I do by making a frame, 0, (similar letters refer tosimilar parts throughout the several views) as shown in drawings, similar to the outside rail of a common pair of blinds, of suitable size to cover the window down as far as necessary, leaving an open space without any bottom rail, instead of which I have a bow, F, turned on a half-circle, proj ecting out fromthe window, another bow, E, about half-way up the frame, the shades setting vertically between the two bows, pivoted (d) on both ends, so that they can be set in any desired position. The upper section is made in the same way, with a smaller half-circle, D, at the top, and shades narrower at the top, forming a section of cone in appearance. The

top has shades 0 set in horizontally. It is hung tothe building by hook and eyes f, so that it can be easily taken off, if desired.

F represents the lower bow. or represents shade in upper section. b represents shade inlower section. 0 represents shades across the upper bow. d represents pivoted end of shades. e represents small rod that holds the bows together in front. f represents the hook and eye that fasten the blind to thehouse. 9 represents the screw-eye that secures the lower part of the blind to the house.

What I claim to have invented, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 7 An improved house-blind, comprising aprojecting front frame provided with vertical shades pivoted so as to be turned in any direction to ward off the rays of the sun, while those not in use for said purpose can be so placed as to let in light and air, all substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
