1 Claim. (Cl. 273-95) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in toy games, which may, however, equally well be played by grown-ups as by children, as this game is not a chance game, but is subject to development of skill and dexterity.

The invention may be made of any suitable material, preferably plastics.

As this invention is comparatively simple of construction, it may be manufactured and sold at an attractively low price.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangements of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming part of this application, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of my invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse, vertical view of same; while Figures 3 and 4 are detail views.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, Figure 1 shows a housing having a front wall 10, rear wall 11,

side walls

12, 12 and a convex top or roof 13.

At the upper part of the housing is arranged a defiector plate 14 attached to the rear wall 11 and slanting upwardly towards the front of the housing.

The invention is attached to a base 20, which slants transversely, or to the rear, and which also at the front has a narrow downwardly slanting portion 21, so that the upper edge of the latter will serve as a fulcrum for the paddles, or keys in operating the invention, as will hereinafter appear.

The lower front of the housing is transparent, for instance, up to the line indicated at 15 in the drawing; from thereon to the top the front is covered with an opaque matter, such as a paint, or a picture, which in this instance preferably should be a clown, or the like.

The upper opaque part of the housing is provided with five substantially round holes, or openings, a, a; b, b, and c for the purpose hereinafter set forth. The outer narrow edge around said holes may be provided with a color to enhance the effect of the purpose for which said holes are supposed to be used, as will appear hereinafter.

Cup-shaped members 22 are solidly attached to the rear surface of the front behind said openings.

Partitions 17 extend across the housing from the base 20 to near the top of said housing.

Paddles 18 are movably arranged across the bottom of the housing, but project only a small distance in front "ice of the front wall in order to facilitate shipment of the invention.

The front wall 10 is formed at the bottom with small cut-out portions 24 to accommodate said paddles, which have a small recess 25 in their upper surfaces that is loosely engaged by the rim or edge of said cut-out portions 24.

The paddles are arranged to move up and down within the partitions, when a slight tap, or thrust is applied to the ends of said paddles that extend outside in front of the front wall 10.

Balls 26 are placed upon said paddles, as shown in the drawing, and may be given the colors blue for eyes, a, a; red for cheeks, b, b; and pinkish for mouth, c, so that, if upon manipulation of said balls these fall into the cups behind the openings a, a; b, b, and c, a face will be simulated upon the opaque surface of the front wall.

The operation of the invention consists in striking the front portion of a paddle lightly whereupon a ball positioned on said paddle will be thrown upwards inside the housing and by striking the deflector plate 14 it will, in turn, be thrown forward and downward, and said ball will then in a number of instances drop into one of the cups behind the openings a, a; b, b, or 0.

Thus the purpose of the game is to bring the balls into the right holes or openings in order to obtain the similarity of a face upon the upper front wall.

It is obvious that changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the several parts, as shown, Within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit of the invention, and I do not, therefore, wish to limit myself to the exact construction shown and described herein.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:

In a toy device comprising, in combination, a housing having a front wall, a rear wall, side walls, a roof and a base, the lower part of the front wall being transparent, the upper part thereof being opaque and formed with a number of staggered circular openings therein, cupshaped members secured to the inside of the front wall and behind said openings, partitions arranged across said housing, a deflector plate secured in a slanting position to the rear wall at a distance above said partitions, a plurality of paddles mounted at the base of the housing within the confines of said partitions, said base being made with outwardly reduced portions, the upper edges formed by the latter serving as a fulcrum for said paddles, balls adapted to be placed on said paddles and thrown upwards by the latter, ricocheting after striking the deflector plate into the cup-shaped members, whereby said balls staggered by the positions of the circular openings will simulate the face of a person.
