PATENT ()FFIcE;
SEELEY P. MOUNT, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
METHOD, OF ATTACHING ADVERTISING ARTICLES TO CARDS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 295,665, dated March 25, 1884:.
Application filed June J7, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:-
Beit known that I, SEELEY P. MOUNT, of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Advertising-Cards,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a method of attaching a miniature article of wearing-apparel or other article of manufacture to a businesscard, as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face view of a business-card, showing a miniature article attached; and Fig. 2 is vertical sections of the same on line 00 w,'Fig. 1
The letter A represents a businesscard having near its edge a slot, 0, and above said slot a strip, a.
B represents the miniature article, made of any suitable material, and consists of twoportions connected together by anarrow piece, I).
The letter D denotes the ring for securing the parts together. i
. The manner of attaching the article to the card is as follows: Fold the card A at its central or middle portion; then slip the ring on the folded strip a; adjust one of the portions of the article between the folded portions of the strip, so that the connectingpiece b will rest upon the upper edge thereof; then move the ring forward off from the folded strip and release it therefrom, so that when the card is straightened out the ring will restin the slot of the card over the folded connecting-piece and encircle them, whereby one portion of the article will be suspended in front and the other on the back of said card. To detach the article from the card, fold said card at its middle portion; then bring the ring D over the connecting-piece b and back onto the folded str=p a, and then draw the rear portion of the article through said folded strip, thereby releasing said article from the card, and finally slipping the ring off from the folded strip. The combination of said card and article as an advertising medium gives additional value and interest to the sa1ne,and at the same time is rendered more attractive and amusing by means of its being a puzzle to attach and de; tach the miniature.
Having described my invention and theoperation thereof, what I claim is The method of attaching a miniature advertising article, consisting of two portions connected by anarrow piece, I), to a card, A, having a slot, 0, near its edge, forming a strip, a, consisting, first, in folding the card at its central port-ion; second, in sliding a ring onto the folded strip; third, in passing a part of the divided article between the folded portions. of
the strip, so that the connecting-piece will rest upon the upper edge of the strip, and, fourth, in moving the ring back off from the folded strip and releasing it, so that when the card is straightened out the ring will rest in the slot over the folded connecting-piece b, and one portion of the advertising article will be suspended in front and the other on the back of the card, as set forth.
