1 Claim. (Cl. 224-26) The present invention relates to a pouch for attachment to the belt of a wearer.
An object of the present invention is to provide a pouch for attachment to the belt of a wearer which lends itself to use by sportsmen who desire to have a powder substance at hand in order that the effects of perspiration on the fingers be eliminated in the grasping of golf clubs, archery bows and strings, fishing poles and the like.
Another object of the prevent invention is to provide a pouch which is easily attached .to and detached from the belt of a wearer and one which has a compartment for the storage of a substance in powder form and another compartment for the storage of bow strings, fish hooks, and the like.
These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will be fully apparent from the following description when taken in conjunction with the annexed drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is an isometric view of the pouch of the present invention with a portion of one face broken away to show the powder dispensing pad, the dotted line showing indicating the filling of the pouch from a container;
Figure 2 is an isometric view showing the reverse side of the pouch;
Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the pouch, on an enlarged scale, the dotted line showing indicating the unbent position of the first and second sheet of the pouch prior to bending over the belt of a wearer, the belt not being shown;
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 2; and
Figure 5 is a view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 3.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral designates the pouch of the present invention which comprises a first sheet 12 and a second sheet 14 arranged in face to face relation, the sheet 12 having an opening inwardly of and spaced from the lower end thereof. The opening is designated in Figures 4 and 5 by the reference numeral 16. A powder dispensing pad 18 is positioned in face to face relation with respect to the sheet 12 and bridges the opening 16 in the sheet 12. The pad 18 has its boundary fixedly secured to the portions of the sheet 12 contiguous to the opening 16.
The sheet 14 is of a configuration to conform to the sheet 12 and is secured to the sheet 12, by stitching 20 along one side edge and stitching 22 along the other side edge, and also by stitching 24 along the lower end adjacent the opening 16. The stitching 20, 22, and 24 form Patented June 14, 1960 the pocket of the sheets 12 and 14 with the. unattached upper ends of the sheets 12 and 14 forming an ingress opening for receiving therethrough a supply of powder to the pad 18, this being shown in Figure 1, a supply container being designated by the reference numeral 26, as shown in dotted lines.
An upstanding flexible flap 28 has its upper end fixed to the sheet 12 for swinging movement from a position in which the flap 28 extends over and closes the pad 18 to a position away from the sheet 12 exposing the pad 18. A snap fastener element is carried on the lower end portion of the fiap' 28 and a cooperating fastener element is carried on the lower end portion of the sheet 12, as at 30, the fastener elements constituting releasable latching means on the flap and on the sheet 12 for releasably holding the flap 28 in the closed position.
As shown in Figure 3, the portions of the sheets 12 and 14 inwardly of and adjacent their upper ends are bendable from the dotted line position shown in Figure 3 to the full line position in which they form a loop for receiving the belt of a wearer, the belt not being illustrated. A third sheet 32 extends over the lower portion of the sheet 14 and with the sheet 14 forms a pocket, the sheet 32 being secured to the assembled sheets 12 and 14 by means of other stitching 34. Fastening elements 36 are carried on the sheet 32 and on the upper end portion of the sheet 14 for releasably holding the sheets 12 and 14 in the bent over position in which they form a loop, the fastening elements 36 constituting releasable latching means on the second sheet 14 and on the sheet 32.
In the assembly of the pouch of the present invention first, the pad 18 is positioned in confronting face to face relation with respect to the one sheet 12 and its boundary or perimeter is stitched to the portions of the sheet 12 contiguous to the opening 16 therein. Next, the sheet 14 is positioned in face to face relation with respect to the nonconfronting face of the sheet 12 and the stitching 20, 22, and 24 is used to secure the sheets 12 and 14 together. Next, the flap 28 and the third sheet 32 are secured in confronting face to face relation with respect to the sheets 12 and 14, respectively, and are stitched thereto by means of stitching 38 and 40.
The pocket formed by the sheet 32 and the sheet 14 may be used to contain valuables or to contain fish hooks, archery bow strings or the like. The pad 18 is impregnated with a powder received through the ingress opening between the sheets 12 and 14 at the upper ends of the latter and the fingers of the wearer of the pouch of the present invention may be kept dusted with the powder by manual pressure upon the pad 18 with the flap 28 in the raised position and the fastening elements 30 disconnected from each other.
With the fastening elements 30 connected together, the pad is covered and protected against loss of the powder therefrom.
What is claimed is:
A pouch comprising an upstanding first sheet having an opening inwardly of and spaced from the lower end thereof, a powder dispensing pad positioned in face to face relation with respect to said sheet and bridging said opening, said pad having the boundary thereof fixedly secured to the portions of said sheet contiguous to said opening, an upstanding second sheet conformably shaped to said first sheet arranged so as to confront the *fac e of said first sheet opposite said pad and fiiredly secured'to saidfirstsh'eet 'a'long'its' side'edges and lower end thereofto form a pocket, the unattached upper ends of said first and second sheets forming an ingress opening for said pocket, an upstanding flexible flap closing said pad and connected along its upper end to said first sheet for swinging movement from the closing position to a position exposing said pad, releasable latching means on said flap and said first- .;sheet for releasably holding theflapjn the closing-position, theportions of said first fand se'cflondnsthe'ets adjacent the 2upper.enrsls' being bendanswer;
able over a belt' of a wearer, and other releasable latch- 'ing' meanson said' secondshet for releasably holding said 'first'and second sheet: portions in'position when 7 bent over said belt.
