'Lighting `fixtures have heretofore been employed, corrr-k prising a recess box disposed inarecevss in a ceilingand a junction box adjacent the .recess box and through which Y access to the junctionboxjmay be had throughan open? ing in the wall ofthe recess box.
In most cases, however, access-tofthe junctiou'box has Y been difficult, due to the necessity of removing panels which cover the opening Iinthe-.vilall 'loftherecess box,
:or because `the openings and panels are rather, srnalljandy inaccessible, .or .fqrnther reasons.
in the wall of the recess box, thereby greatly'facilitating such access. Y
Another object of the invention is to provide'a fixture A` of the character described, in which a reflector, which is .3 a
a part of the fixture, is utilized, in a novel manner, to conceal the junction box and the access opening thereto.
A further object of the invention is to provide `a X- ture of the character described, in whichk novel means are incorporated for permitting quick andeasy removal of the reilector.`
A still further object of the invention is to'provide .a xture of the character described, which consists of a minimum Vnumber of easily fabricated andreadily assem- Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the xture, as`
viewed from the right side of Fig. 1, but with the reectors removed; Y a Y Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view, taken'onthev-line 4-,7-4 of Fig. 1; Y Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view, taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1, but with the reectors removed;
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary view, on an enlarged scale, ofv
a portion of Fig. 4, and a Fig. 7 is a fragmentary cross-sectlonal view, taken on same diameter as that ofthe opening 41, and from which the line 7--7 of Fig. 6.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the fixture will be seen to comprise a box'having a rectangular front panel 1 and asimilar rear panel 2. The front panel 1 is provided with'side flanges 3 and4 and a top flange `5, and the rear panel 2 is likewise provided with side tlanges 6 and 7 and a top ange 8. The side anges 3 -and 6 are coplanar as are the side flanges 4 and 7. Th top flanges 5 and 8 are also coplanar. Y

The extension 32 extends through thespace r13 above the panel 19.. t
The junction box, s provided with a removable i cover 35, secured to the box 30, as by screws 36, so Vthat access to therinterior of the junction box may be had between the base of thesoclcet 26 and the bracket 27,
thereby providing a means of supporting the shield 39 ywithout extra screws.
In order to permit access to the junction box 30, for
inspection vor repair purposes,V without requiring removal of the fixture from the recess in the ceiling, means have been provided for permitting easy removal of the reflec- 1 tors 18 and 24 from the recess box. Suchmeans is best y illnstratedin Figs.' v2, 4,' 6 and-7. Forthisfpurpose,` the l reector V18 is provided with vran opening `41 of .a diameter Vlarger, than the'diameterof thehead 17 1of the screw v16,
and fromwhich a'fslot 42 extends. radially, the slot-42 being of a width substantiallythe same asthe diameter 4of the 'stem of Vthe screw 16. 'a Similarly, fthe reector 24 is provided with anopening r43 of approximately the va slot 44extends radially, theslot 44 being of a width substantially the same asthe width of the slot 42.
, When access to the junction box is desired, the lighty bulb (not shown) is rst removed from the socket 26, after which the head 17 of the screw 16 is turned to release it from clamping engagement with the reflector v24. The reflectors 24 'and 18 are then moved in a downward direction, as viewed in Figs. 4, 6 andl, sufficient.l`
Y 13 is so large in area as to permit easy access to the junction box. This opening-is further'enlarged by `the fact that the bar 15 is narrow, leaving considerable space at the sides of the bar. y g f -"It-will also be noted that the panels4 I1-have secured to the inner-walls thereof" brackets- 45jha-ving slots 46 therein. These bracketsv are ntili'zed for the The sides' "20 and 22 :o f* 'thereflector 18 are cut "away, as at 47, to permit the attachment means or thefcoverto be entered in the slots in the bracket.'y Y
It is thus seen that I have provided "a recessed wlighting fixture which admirably fulfils .al-lof the' stated objects of the invention, and which is of economical construction.
It is to be understood Ithat the form of my invention, herewith shown andvdescribed, is` to-be takenasa preferred example of the same, and that various changes may be made in the shape, size and arrangement of lparts of my invention, -withon't departing V`from tlfle'spirit of the invention or the scope of the-sbjoined claims.
1. A lighting xture of the wall-recessed' type, cornprising a box-like structure having front andi'rear panels,
and side panels extending vertically upward from a horizontal lplane defined by thelower edges of the front and rear panels and of substantially less height than the front and rear panels, whereby to provide large openings above the side panels, a junction box supported by one of said side panels, in substantially spaced relation to said panel, a reflector mounted in said structure, and having sloping side walls which normally block access to said openings, said reilector being removable from said structure, whereby access to said junction box mayV be had through one of 'said openings,-andl means forsupporting said reflector, said means comprising a bar interconnecting said front and rear panels, a screw secured to said bar and having'an enlarged head, and an opening in said reflector having an. Venlarged portion larger than said head and a slot extending radially frornsaid enlarged portion, said slot being of a Width substantially the same as the diameter of thestem of saidscrew. Y
` 2. A fixture, as Vdefined infclziim I, including a domelike ref ector supportedrby the head: of saidV screw, said llast-named reflector having an opening with an enlarged portion larger-than'said head'and a slot extending radially from 'said enlarged portion and of a Width substantially the same as the diameter of thestem of said screw.
