Beit known that we, FREDERICK G. SAR- GEN'r and ALLAN C. SARGENT, of Graniteville, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have :invented a new and useful Improvement in Squeeze-Rolls for Squeezing and Drying Fiber, of which Jche following is a specication., 'n
Our invention relates to squeezing and compressing rolls for squeezing and drying wool and other brous materials after being washed or soaked; and it consists in a novel attachment to produce the Compression ci'such rolls, substantially as hereinafter described.

It is obvious that with this construction a proportional part of the pressure of each weight will be exerted upon the same lever c, and thus tend to equalize the pressure upon both ends of the roll B,
which is important when the wool passes 11nder the roll in greater quantities or masses near one end than near the other, as is frequently the case in practice. AIn-order to facilitate this action of the combined parts thev conoidal-pointed nuts b and their corresponding sockets in the bar c are used as well as the notches c c and corresponding beveled edges of the levers c c, passing through them.

At their lower ends the rods e e are provided' with stirrups m mf, surrounding the levers g y. The stirrups iit into notches Z Z in the lower sides of the levers, and by moving them from one notch to the other a greaterV or less com pression is produced, as desired. By combining the shifting of the bar a upon the different pairs of projections cZ CZ, with this shifting of the stirrups in the notches Z Z any desired degree of compression can be produced.
