Description

` `in the county of Mendocino and Stateof Calir:nying drawings.
tion, be provided with accommodation for one UNITED STATES PATENT` OFFICE.
ALBERT BROVN, OF MENDOCINO, CALIFORNIA.
PAPER-BAG HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters :Patent No. 291,489, dated January 8, 1884.
Application filed October 30,1883. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Beit known that I, ALBERT BROWN, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Mendocino,
fornia, have invented a new and useful Paper. Bag Holder, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompa- This invention relates to paper-bag holders; and it has for its object toproduce a device which shall be simple, convenient, inexpensive, and capacious, and which shall, in addior more balls of twine.
The invention consists in the improved construction and arrangement of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings hereto annexed, Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of my improved paperbag holder. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view ofthe same. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view, and Fig. 4 is a detail view.
The same letters refer to the same parts in all the figures.
A A in the drawings designate the sides of my improved paper-bag holder, which are semicircular in shape, and connected by the bottom B, and by a vertical center piece, C, to which the said sides are secured by means of screwsor other suitable fastenings. .The sides A A are provided with inclined grooves D D to receive the inclined shelves E E,which are held detachably in the said grooves, and which serve to hold the bags, the larger bags being accommodated upon the lower shelves and the smaller bags upon the upper ones.` Of the smallest bags, two sizes may be placed upon one shelf. The shelves being all inclined toward the center of the sides, the bags will be held safely in position. The inner ends of the shelves may beprovided with'pins or prongs F, which serve to hold the bags with additional security, and will prevent Amore than the bag which is laid hold of from being withdrawn at a time. The shelves being detachable, as stated, will enable the bags to be easily adjusted upon such pins or prongs when used;` but the said pins or prongs may be dispensed with without departing from the spirit of my invention. The top shelves, G G, form l:
a trough, as shown, in which partiti-ons H H areplaced, which reserve the central portion. of' said trough for the smallest size of bags. 55
and such that the device may be readily knocked down77 for shipment. The general appearance is attractive, andthe arrangement of the bags is such that all the different sizes are ready at hand and accessible.
rlhe twinei holding arrangementV is also simple and co11- f venient, and does not add to the cost of the device.
I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United Statesl. As an improvement in paper-bag holders, the combination of a pair of semicircular sides having inclined grooves, a bottom and a vertical center piece connecting the said sides, and inclined shelves held detachably in the grooves of the said sides, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, in a paper-bag holder, of the semicircular sides having inclined grooves, the bottom and a vertical center piece connecting the said sides, the shelves, and the top shelves connected so as to form a trough having partitions, as shown, forming separate compartments, the end compartments being provided with perforated cross-strips, as and for the purpose set forth.
8. In a paper-bag holder, the combination, with the sides. of detachable shelves, the inner' ends of which are provided with upwardlyprojecting points or prongs, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT BROWN, lVitnesses:
EUGENE BROWN, A. D, MCGIBBON.
