United States Patent DOLL WITH DISPOSABL'E HLAND AND FOOT MEMBERS This invention relates to doll construction, the primary object of the invention being to provide a doll constructed preferably of heavy paper, cardboard or the like suitable material, the doll being formed with permanent hand and foot members on which disposable interchangeable hand and foot members identical with the permanent hand and foot members, may be temporarily secured, covering the permanent hand and foot members of the doll presenting unpainted finger and toe nails to be painted at the will of children playing with the doll in simulating finger or toe nails of the human body.
Still another object of the invention is .to provide a doll having permanent substantially fiat hand and foot members with which a supply of unpainted replaceable hand and foot members are used, covering the hand and foot members so that the unpainted finger and toe nails of the replaceable hand and foot members may be readily painted by children playing with the doll.
Another object of the invention is to provide a doll of the cut-out type that may be folded in such a way that the doll will be supported in an upright position with the hand and foot members extending forwardly and disposed in a position to permit the finger and toe nails thereof to be readily painted.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts, hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure l is a front elevational view of a doll constructed in accordance with the invention, the head of the doll being shown as slightly turned rearwardly.
Fig. 2 is an edge elevational view of the doll.
Fig. 3 is a rear elevational view of the doll.

Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 6 is a fragmental elevational view of one of the hand members prior to the positioning of a disposable hand covering disc.
Fig. 7 is a sectional view taken on line 7-7 of Fig. 5.
Fig. 8 is a sectional view taken on line 8-8 of Fig. 7.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view taken on line 9-9 of Fig. 5.
Fig. 10 is a sectional view taken on line 10-10 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 11 is a plan view illustrating the application of a disposable hand or foot member as attached thereto.
Fig. 12 is a sectional view taken on line 12-12 of Fig. 11.
Fig. 13 is a bottom plan view of the hand or foot member, as shown by Fig. 12.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the body of the doll which is indicated generally by the reference character 5, is constructed preferably of heavy cardboard material constructed in such a way that when the sections of the body are folded upon each other a wide supporting base 6 is provided, acting as a prop to hold the body in an upright position when resting on a flat surface.
The body includes forwardly extended leg members 7 that have foot members 8. formed integral therewith, the foot members being preferably circular in design and provided with toe nails 9 extending from the edges thereof.
The body also includes integral arm members 10 that extend laterally from the body and are provided with circular hand members 11 formed with finger nails 12.
Both of the foot members and hand members of the doll are formed with spaced openings 13 for the purpose of receiving cords or ribbon securing means, to be hereinafter more fully described.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings, the hand and foot members being flat, provide supports for disposable hand and foot members 14 constructed of paper, cardboard or like material and identical in shape with the permanent hand and foot members of the doll.
These disposable hand and foot members 14 are provided with finger and toe nails respectively which overlie the finger and toe nails of the permanent hand and foot members of the doll, the finger and toe nails of the disposable hand and foot members being unpainted and constructed to overlie the finger and toe nails of the permanent foot and hand members of the doll to be painted at the will of the children playing with the doll. It is also contemplated to construct the hand and foot members of such rigid material that the finger and toe nails may be filed or cut at the will of the child playing with the doll.
These disposable hand and foot members having openings 15 adapted to register with similar openings formed in the permanent hand and foot members of the doll, to receive securing strings or ribbons 16 that are tied preferably in bow knots, so that the disposable hand and foot members may be readily removed and replaced by disposable hand and foot members to be painted, filed or otherwise conditioned.
In Figs. 11, 12 and 13 of the drawings, I have illustrated hand and foot members formed of plastic or similar material to correspond with a doll constructed of such plastic material and as shown, the hand and foot members indicated by the reference character 17, are circular in shape and formed With finger or toe nails 18. This form of hand or foot members presents a flat lower surface to which the disposable hand or foot members 19 may be secured as by means of the ribbons 20 which are passed through registering openings in the disposable hand or foot members and the permanent hand and foot members of the doll.
It will, of course, be understood that in this form of the invention the disposable hand or foot members are provided with extensions 21 representing the finger or toe nails of a hand or foot, portions of the extensions representing the finger or toe nails being unpainted so that they may be painted by children playing with the doll.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided a doll which is so constructed that disposable hand and foot members may be positioned over the hand and foot members of the permanent doll structure, the finger and toe nails of the disposable hand and foot members being unpainted so that children playing with the doll may paint the finger and toe nails to simulate painted human Patented July 28, 1959 of the doll and the body of the doll painted, to simulate a dress. r e
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
A doll comprising a body having permanent hand and foot members forming a permanent part thereof, flat disposable paper hand and foot members corresponding in size and shape to said permanent hand and foot members, positioned over said permanent hand and foot mem-- bers of the doll in contact therewith, said permanent hand and foot members and disposable hand and foot members having pairs of registering openings, tie members inserted through said openings, removably securing said disposable hand and foot members to the doll, completely concealing said permanent hand and foot members and said disposable hand and foot members presenting unpainted surfaces to be painted a selected color at the will of the person playing with the doll.
