TRACE- HOLDING ATTACHMENT FOR HAMlI-CLIPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 287,826, dated November 6, 1883. 7.
Application filed June 22, 1883. (No model.)
' citizen of the United States, residing atNora Springs,'in the county of Floyd and State of Iowa, have invented 'a new and useful Trace- HoldingAttachment to Hame-Glips, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to an improved traceloop adapted to be arranged on the hame-tug clip and serve to support and retain the front end of the trace when it is buckled to the hame- 'tug.. It is well known that where the front end of the trace is not provided with a'loop or.
support this end curves and turns outwardly from the hame-tug, and causes much annoyance and trouble by engaging doors, gates, &c., through which the horse passes,-and at other places, and this engagement very frequently pulls out the leather loops on the hame-tug at the buckle. My'pres'ent invention is designed to obviate all these objections and disadvantages, and to provide a simple, inexpensive, durable, convenient, and eflicient attachment that is adapted to be placed on the hame-tug clip, and will serve to hold the end of the trace against the ,hame-tug and keep it perfectly straight, and entirely obviate its turning outwardly. v
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of the harness, showing my device in position. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the ring or loop.
Referring to the drawings, A designates the hame, which is provided with the usual tugclip, B, to which is connected the hame-tug O,-
having the buckle D' and buckle-loopE at its rear end; 4 e
F is the trace, which is buckled to the rear end of the hame-tugand passed through the leather loop E, from which its end G projects forwardly. y Y
H is the trace-loop, which is formedpf metal, preferably, and, comprises a plate having a main slot, I, and an eye or perforation, J, by 5 g hame-tug.
I am aware that rings have been arranged to swing on the hame-clip, and that bridges have been formed on the hame-tug, and I therefore do not broadly claim this.
I claim as my invention- 7 As an improvement in devices for supporting the front ends of traces, the combination of the hame having the tug-eye B, the hametug having the eye K, interlinked with the hame-eye B, and the trace-supporting plate H, 'formed with the main slot I, adapted toreceive the end or point of the trace, and with the perforation J, interlinked with the eye K on the hame-tug and swinging on and'with the latter, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as. my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE WVILLIAM HALL.- Witnesses:
