FENCE-POST.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,978, dated October 16, 1883.
Application filed April 10, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
' j ects to provide a post having supports for the wires, and so formed at the base as to be readily secured in the ground, or to a suitable support, as more fully hereinafter specified. These objects I obtain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which is represented a perspective view of a fence-post constructed according to my invention:
The letter A indicates a fence-post which is cornpcsed of three strands of wire twisted for a portion of their length to form the upright portion of the post, and bent at their free ends first horizontally and then at right angles, the vertical portions or being adapted to be driven into the ground until the horizontal portions 12 gle wire looped midway between its ends, the
third strand being looped at its upper end and secured to the loop of the first-mentioned strands, forming the upper Wire support of the post. At suitable intervals are secured the other supports, which consist of the bent wires B, fastened between the twisted portions of the strands.
Having thus described my invention,what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
A fence-post consisting ofthree strands of wire suitably twisted for a portion of their length, and having a loop at one end, the free ends of the wires being bent horizontally and vertically, and the twisted portion provided at suitable intervals with wire supports, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
