PATENT OEEICE.
HENRY SMITH, JR.,`OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
SASH-CORD FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,857, dated October 16, 1883.
Application filed .August 21, 1883.
To a/ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that L'HENRY SMITH, Jr., of the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain Improvements in Sash- Oord Fasteners, of which the following is a specification. Y
This invention relates to an improved device for securing the end of the sash-cord to the sash, as will hereinafter fully appear.
In the drawings forming apart hereof, Figure I is a front view of a window-sash and a part of the frame, showing the application of the invention thereto. Figs. II, III, and IV are views of the invention on an enlarged scale; and Fig. V is a view of a part of the invention, also enlarged. y
Similar letters of reference indicate similar parts in all the views;
A is a platesecured to the edge of the sash B by means of screws. The plate A is slotted to receive a T-.bolt, C, to which the sash-cord is fastened. The T-bolt C, after being passed through theslot a, rests with its head in wings D and its neck in a staple, E. The holes in the wings D are elongated, so that the T-head of the bolt C, after entering them, may be carried upward and behind the plate A, which (No model.)
prevents its accidental removal. rIhe neck of the bolt has pins b, which pass through lateral slots c in the plate A, and to the rear of the plate A, as does the T-head, and they serve to retain the upper part of the bolt in place. An eye, d, receives the knot of the cord F.
It will be seen that while the bolt cannot be accidentally displaced it may be easily Vremoved, when necessary, by first lowering it, so as to bring its T-head and the pins b opposite their respective slots.
I claim as my invention- 1. The slotted plate A, having the wings D,
with the elongated holes, and the staple E, combined with the Tb0lt C, having an eye at its upper end, adapted for' attachment to the sashcord, substantially as speciiied. Y
2. The slotted plate A, having the wings D, with elongated holes, and the lateral slots c, combined with the T-bolt C, having an eye at its upper end, and provided with the pins b,
substantially as specified.
