CURTAIN-POLE RING.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM LANG, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole Rings, of which the following is a specification.

Heretofore, in curtain-pole rings, theeye to which the curtain is attached was riveted and sfldered to the ring that was placed upon the c irtain-pole, whereby the ring became tarnished and unsightly. The object of this invention is to produce a curtain-pole ring in which no soldering is required; and the invention consists of a curtain-ring made of sheet metal, and of a sheetmetal sleeve which overlaps the meeting ends of the ring, said sleeve being provided with an eye that is riveted thereto.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1. represents my improved curtain-ring in use. Figs. 2 and 3 show side views of the same, the latter being partly in section; and Fig. 4 shows a vertical transverse section of the ring on a larger scale on the line y y, Fig. 3.

In the drawings, A represents a hollow ring of oval, circular, or other cross section, which is drawn of sheet-brass. The meeting ends a a of the ring A are connected by a sleeve, B, which is made to overlap the meeting ends of the ring A, the sleeve being tightly applied to the ring. At the upper portion of the sleeve B a small hole, I), is provided for the introduction of a laterally-proj ecting lug, b, of the eye b to which latter the curtain is fast ened.

Before the sleeve B is closed and bent into its final form around the meeting ends of the cur tain-pole ring A, lug b of the eye I) is placed into a hole, 2;, of the sleeve, and struck with a suitable tool at its middle part inside of the sleeve, so as to spread apart, and be thereby firmly attached to the sleeve. By thus riveting the eye I) to the sleeve B, soldering is avoided, and the eye 72 is fastened in a quick, neat, and reliable manner. After the eye I) is riveted to the sleeve B, the latter is bent so as to fit tightly around the ring A. The two ends of the ring are thereby connected, while a sufficient space is formed between the meeting ends a a of the ring A for the inwardlyprojecting lug b of the eye N.

The advantages of my invention are that a light and cheap curtain-pole ring is produced in which soldering is dispensed with, and that presents a neater and more finished appearance.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A curtain-pole ring made of hollow sheet metal, and of a sleeve which is fitted around the meeting ends of the ring, and provided WILLIAM LANG.
