SPECIFICATION 'forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,590,7dated October 16, 1883.

U all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, STANLEY L. CHAPMAN, a citizen of .the United States, residing at VVinnetka, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Elevator-Buckets, of which the following is a specification, to wit: i
My invention relates to an improvement in elevator-buckets; and it consists in constructing such devices of glued veneers; substantially as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to vvhich my invention appertains to make and use the saine, I will now proceed to describe its construction, referring to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is aperspective view oi' my bucket, and Fig. 2 avertical cross-section of the same.
A represents an elevator-bucket of any desired form, and constructed in one or more pieces of two or more thicknesses of glued veneers, a a, having their grain crossed, in the usual manner. I prefer to bind the material along its Wearing-edges with a strip of metal, b, as seen in Fig. 1j, which will prevent too rapid Wear and splitting of the jwood.
The bucket so made may be made in one or more pieces, as desired, and riveted or other- Wise secured together, forming a very light, durable, and economical article.
I have shown the bucket made of threeply material; but do not desire to confine STANLEY L. CHAPMAN.
