3 Claims. (Cl. 211-89) This invention relates to a glove selector and more particularly, to a device adapted for attachment to a wall or the like arranged to support pairs of gloves in a conveniently accessible fashion in order to enable easy selection thereof.

It is a primary object of the invention to provide a device for supporting gloves, especially ladies gloves, in such a fashion that they are displayed for easy selection by the user.

It is a further object to provide a simple holder for ladies gloves whereby gloves may be positioned thereon without possibility of snagging or tearing the material of the gloves, and which is so designed that the gloves supported are available for convenient removal without the potential of damage to the glove fabric.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a device of the character mentioned which may be fastened to a vertical wall, closet door, or other supporting surface.

Another object is to provide a device of the character mentioned which is formed from round wire stock, plastic material or other suitable resilient material, which is attractive in appearance, convenient of use, easy to install and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent upon reviewing the specification and accompanying drawings in which similar characters of reference represent corresponding parts in the several views.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the invention; and

Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view showing the device attached to a vertical wall surface and with a pair of gloves shown in dotted lines in supported position.

Fig. 3 is a cut-away perspective view of a wall fastening member for attaching a slightly modified device to a vertical wall surface.

The device as illustrated in the drawings is formed from round steel wire wherein the wire is characterized as being resilient and presenting smooth contacting surfaces in order to allow gloves or other articles to be slipped between adjacent iron rungs without danger of snagging or tearing the fabric from which the supported article is made.

The device consists of U-shaped bracket support member, generally indicated at 3, wherein the spaced legs 4 and 5 are turned upwardly at their ends to form loops 6 and 7 disposed normal to the longitudinal axes of the legs 4 and 5. The legs are adapted to receive screws or other suitable fastening means for attachment to a vertical wall surface 11.

A plurality of elongated C-shaped members indicated generally at 15 are spot-welded, or otherwise attached to the legs 4 and 5 of the bracket member 3 and are spaced from one another as at 17 to provide space for insertion of gloves. The C-shaped members 15 each comprise a back member 21 and interrupted front members 22 formed from an integral run of wire. The natural resiliency of the wire members is such that upon slidable insertion of a glove in the spaces 17, the gloves are held securely in place, but may be easily removed by the user. A pair of gloves G shown in broken lines in Fig. 2 illustrate how articles may be disposed within the spaces 17 and where Patented Dec. 16, 1958 in the glove projects above and below the horizontal top surface of the device to afford convenient display to facilitate selection.

The ends of the C-shaped members are, of course, closed by an arcuate or U-shaped bend 23 which provides a camming surface so that gloves inserted in spaces 17 are guided thereinto without danger of damage.

In operation the device may be secured to a vertical wall surface 11 by screws 9, or other suitable fastening devices. A pair of gloves may he slipped between the adjacent wire run s 21 and 22 in the spaces 17 and are there held in resilient supporting osition. The user may remove a pair of gloves after selection bv slidable lateral movement of the gloves from the resilient clamping action of

Referring to Fig. 3, a wall fastening member 25 is employed to hold the device to a vertical wall surface 11. The free ends of legs 4 and 5 are each formed with two bends so that leg 4 bends inwardly at 26 toward leg 5 and then upwardly at 27. Leg 5 turns inwardly at 28 toward leg 4 and then downwardly at 29. Member 25 comprises two

31 and 32 held together by rivets 33 so that free or support ends of legs 4 and 5 are held between the lates in T-shaped recesses 35 provided on the inside surfaces of the plates. Member 25 is mountable to a wall surface by screws 37. Legs 4 and 5 are prevented from moving vertically or laterally within bracket 25 by oppositely

While the invention has been described in specific detail by reference to illustration and embodiment of use, it is to be understood that variations and modifications may be practiced within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A glove holding and selecting device comprising a U-shaped bracket support having legs, wall-fastening means connected with the legs of said support adjacent the open end of the latter, narrow elongate C-shaped glove supporting members carried by the legs of said bracket support, each said C-shaped member having spaced open ends terminating interiorlv of said su port and closed, opposed outer ends extending laterally from opposite sides of said bracket support said C-shaoed members being spaced from one another in a common horizontal plane so that gloves may be slidably positioned therebetween.

2. A glove holding and selecting device according to claim 1 and wherein the glove supporting members are formed of resilient spring material.

3. A glove holding and selecting device comprising: a U-shaped bracket support, a wall fastening member having two adjacent plates defining T-shaped recesses within said member, said support having legs terminating in a crank-shaped portion to complementarily nest within the said recesses of said member, means fastening said plates together to rigidly engage said member and said legs, and narrow elongate C-shaped glove supporting members carried by the legs of said bracket support, each said C-shaped member having spaced open ends terminating interiorly of said support and closed, opposed outer ends extending laterally from opposite sides of said bracket support said C-shaped members being spaced from one another in a common, horizontal plane so that gloves may be slidably positioned therebetween.
