SYSTEM FOR DIFFUSION OF AIR IN snow HALLS FOR VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING PURPOSES 1 Filed April 5, 1955 INVENTOR. J0s [ZOE/57' S ERR/1 United States Patent Ofiiice Patented Sept. 23,- 1958 SYSTEM F OR DIFFUSION OF AIR 1N SHOW HALLS gOR O IgIIIEISTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING Jos Llobet Serra, Barcelona, Spain Application April 5, 1955, Serial No. 499,412 Claims priority, application Spain April 8, 1954 1 Claim. (CI. 98-40) The present invention relates to systems for the diffusion of air in show halls and other public rooms.
An object of the present invention is to provide an improved means for the diffusion of air.
In accordance with the present invention, the conditioned air reaches the public immediately after its release from conduits throughwhich it circulates, which not only enables the effects of the air to be immediately felt, but also requires a lower consumption of this air.
The system with which the invention is employed provides that air is .conducted through a network of conduits to a point directly below each seat and is then taken up, in accordance with the invention, through appropriate conduits to be released at the side of each seat through a diffuser unit provided beneath the arms.
The diffuser units for the release and distribution of conditioned air may form a part of the arms of the seats but, in any event, is above the zone corresponding to the legs of the person seated.
In the case of more simple installations, the diffuser units may be disposed between two consecutive arm chairs, so that the effect of one diffuser serves for conditioning the air of the zone corresponding to two seats.
In order that the invention may be more clearly understood and readily carried into effect, the same will next be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a schematic sectional view of a show hall illustrating an air diifusion system.
Fig. 2 is a schematic plan view of the same show hall.
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view showing a partial row of arm chairs with the corresponding branched conduits for distribution of air.
Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view showing a modified arrangement of the structure.
Fig. 5 is a schematic perspective view of a partial row of arm chairs showing the preferred arrangement of the diffuser units.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, the reference number 10 illustrates a show hall comprising various rows of seats 11. The air diffusion assembly .comprises an air-intake 12, combined with a valve mechanism 13 and. a filter unit 14, an air-conditioning unit 15 of any conventional type, a blower assembly 16 and an aromatization unit 17. The conditioned air positively moved by the blower mechanism 16, is forced through the main conduits 18 and is distributed below the several rows of seats through corresponding branched conduits 19. These conduits may be arranged either below the floor 20 of the hall (Fig. 3) or above the same, immediately below the seats 21 extending forwardly of the back rests 22 (Fig. 4). From the conduits 19, the air is taken up through vertical conduits 23 mounted on the lateral structure or side walls 24 of the chairs 22 to be released at the side of each seat through a diifuser outlet or unit 25 provided immediately beneath the arms 26 of the different .chairs. The preferred arrangement of the diffuser units is shown in Fig. 5 and is at the top front part of the side walls 24 between arms 26 and seat 21. At the top of the room 10 there may be disposed several air-outlets 27, combined or not with an exhauster mechanism.
It will be understood that the apparatus of the inven tion may be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
A floor-supported seat provided for diffusing air received from an air source comprising a back rest, arms extending forwardly of said back rest in substantially horizontal direction, a seat coupled to the back rest and normally extending forwardly thereof at. a level lower than that of the arms, hollow side walls beneath said arms and on both sides of the seat and having air diffuser outlets at their respective fronts and sides and uppermost extremities, and a conduit in each of said sides for coupling the outlets and source, said outlets extending between the seat and the arms.
