- PORTABLE TEESTEE.
No. 284,873. Patented Sept. 11, 1883 INVENTOR WITNESSES:
. BY fl/m w/f 4 ATTORNEYS.
XYESLEY F. MARSH, OF NORTH PLATTE, NEBRASKA;
PORTABLE TRI ESTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No} 284,873, dated September 11, 1883.
Application filed April 18, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WESLEY F. 1VIAR SH, of North Platte, Lincoln county, Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Portable Trestle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a portable trestle, convenient for the use of plasterers, painters, carpenters, &c., more especially for indoor work; and it consists in a novel construction that allows vertical and horizontal extension and adjustment, as hereafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing,rwhich is a perspective view of my improved trestle.
The two end frames, A A, are each composed of a base-piece, a, vertical post I), and braces c c. t On each frame A is an adjustable post, d, held by a strap, e, attached at the top of the frame, and to the post d is attached a horizontal bar, f, supported at its outer end by a brace, g, from the post d. The two horizontal bars f are connected together at their outer ends for mutual support by straps h II, that allow the bars to slide endwise upon each other.
- By this construction the trestle can be adjusted in height at either or both ends, and the frames A set more or less distance from each other, according to the length required. For holding the posts d as adjusted, loops 4; are hung on the posts (I, and pass around the posts I), for engagement with notches therein; but any suitable device may be used in place of these.
This trestle can be closed compactly for transportation, or for being passed through a doorway, and when in place for use can be adjusted to the position for use according to the height of the work. For stairways and arched ceilings, one end can be set higher, as
is required in such cases.
The trestle-can be readily moved about by \VESLEY F. MARSH.
