PORTABLE PooLs Filed Jan. 2, 1957 R. N'OMURA A, 4to/J.' 4
United States Patent O PORTABLE POOLS Ryutaro Nomura, Taisho-ku, Osaka, Japan Application January 2, 1957, Serial No. 632,053 Claims priority, application Japan January 19, 1956 s claims. (ci. 4-112) v This invention relates to portable pools. The object of the present invention is to provide means to fold up a pool as to make it portable.
With this object in view, my invention provides a pool, in which side plates are connected by flexible connecting pieces so as to form a drum, and a exible bottom sheet is fixed to the said drum in a water-tight manner. l
According to the present invention, the pool, when in use, is filled with water and gets stout by water pressure setting up the side plates. And, when not in use, the drum can be folded up, making the connecting pieces its folds, and the bottom sheet in some preferable way.
Other and further objects of my invention will become apparent from the' following specification and claims taken together with the accompanying drawings in which is shown the preferred embodiment of the portable pool of the present invention.l
Fig. 1 is an elevation partly in section of .a portable pool embodying the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of a part of Fig. l.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a portable pool embodying the present invention when it is folded up.
In these drawings, referential numeral 11 indicates semi-flexible Yside plates of plastics connected by flexible connecting pieces 12 so as to formvadrum 13. Each of the connecting vpieces is consisted of two flexible plastic sheets 121, and 123, such as vinyl resin, and both edges thereof are welded to the side plates 11 respectively as well as the middle parts of the pieces 12,
ICC
and 122 are welded to each other. A bend part 14 of a flexible bottom sheet 15 of plastics, such as vinyl resin, is welded to the outer surface of the drum 13. A plastic strip 16 is welded to the inner surfaces of the bottom sheet 15 and the drum 13 respectively.
It is thought that the invention and its advantages will be understood from the foregoing description and it is apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described and illustrated in the drawing being merely a preferred embodiment thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desireto secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:. v Y Y 1. A collapsible pool comprising a plurality of curved solid semi-rigid plastic side plates, a plurality of connecting piecesfconnecting said side plates in a closed figure, each connecting piece being of exible plastic and having a recess on eachy end receiving the end of one of said side plates, and the exible plastic forming said recess being adhered to the side piece within the recess, and a exible plastic bottom secured to the outer periphery of the side plates and connecting pieces around the entire periphery of said closed figure.
2. A collapsible pool as claimed in claim 1 and a exible plastic reinforcing strip secured to the inner Y periphery of said side plates and to said flexible plastic bottom. f
3. A collapsible pool as claimed in claim 1 in which said connecting pieces each vcomprise tworexible plastic sheets adhered to each other at the central portions thereof.
