ROPE-HITCH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 283,719, dated August 21, 1883.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE D. MosHER, of Birmingham, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Rope- Hitches, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, where.-

The objectof my invention is to furnish a.
To use my device a rope is fastened to the plate at hole 0, and the other end is passed through the slip-holes, and is secured in any desired part of its length by pressing the loop down upon the spur, which effectually prevents any further motion through the holes,
the spur being tapering in form and bluntly pointed. The plate b is curved in the plane of the passage of the rope, and the edges of the slip-holes are rounded to prevent abrasion. section of the rope used. The spur is located midway between the slip-holes in the re-en trant surface of the curved plate, so that the rope may beheld with but slight bends-a desirable feature when the rope is new and not very flexible-and at the same time the device is eflective in holding equally well an old and very pliable rope.
I am aware that devices consisting of perforated plates with a projecting spur for pre venting the slipping of a strap passed through the holes and over the spur have been made and used, and this I do not broadly claim.
I claim as my invention- In a rope-hitch, plate I), having tie-holes c and slip-holes d d, all in the same curved plane, and bearing between the slip-holes and on the re-entrant surface of the curved plate a projecting spur, c, all substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
