1 Claim. (Cl. 46-1) This invention relates to an amusement device or toy.
The object of the invention is to provide an amusement device or toy which includes a knife like element that is adapted to discharge a fluid which may be colored red, so as to simulate bleeding when contact is made with the knife like element.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toy which may be in the form of a knife or bayonet, and wherein a manually operable means is provided for discharging a red colored fluid from the knife like element or bayonet when contact is made with a child or the like or with an object so that the red fluid will simulate bleeding whereby persons using the toy will have increased pleasure due to the realistic effect created.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toy which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the same.
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the toy, constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken through the knife like toy shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 44 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure 2 but showing a modified knife like element.
Figure 6 is a longitudinal sectional view taken through a further modification showing a bayonet mounted on a rifle and equipped with the blood simulating fluid discharge mechanism of the present invention.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 10 designates a knife like toy which may be made of any suitable material, and the toy can include a blade portion 11 and a handle portion 14 and an annular flange 12 may be arranged between the blade 11 and handle 14. A flange 13 may be arranged at the rear of the handle 14.
The handle 14 is provided with a hollow chamber 15, and arranged in the rear of the handle is an eyelet 16 which is provided with an aperture or opening 17 whereby the toy can be readily suspended from a nail, hook or the like when it is not being used.
Extending longitudinally through the toy is a hollow tube 18 and the front of the tube 18 is open as at 19, while the rear open end 20 of the tube 18 is arranged within the chamber of the handle 14. The chamber 15 is adapted to hold a suitable quantity of red fluid which is non-poisonous and which will not stain, and the handle 14 is adapted to be made of a squeezable ma- 7 terial so that by manually compressing the handle 14 the id from' the chamber 15 can be discharged out through 2,826,859 Patented Mar. 18 1958 ice tube 18 tofithereby s ulate bleeding :so "as to increasethe realism "when using the device.
.Referrin'gtoo :Figurei'S' of the drawings, there isshown a n'nodified knife .like -toy which :isJindi'cated generally by the numerallll and thetdevice 521 shown iniEigure 5 ditfers, from the toy iof Figures -1 :through 4 in that the upright position such as in a holster or sheath.
glis thesame.
v Referring rto sFigure 1610f the drawings there is shown ,ralfunther modificationwherein the toy is indicated igeherally by the numeral 23. l'EEhus, -in.-iiigure b the rlevibe 23 includes a body 24 which has the configuration of a rifle or gun, and the rifle body 24 includes a handle portion 25 and a trigger 26. A bayonet 27 is mounted on the front end of the rifle 24, and a hollow elongated tube 28 has its front end open as at 29 and the front end 29 terminates at the front tip of the bayonet 27. A squeezable ball 30 if connected to the rear end of the tube 28, so that by manually squeezing the ball 30, a suitable red colored stainless non-poisonous fluid can be ejected or discharged out through the front of the tube 28 as when a person wishes to simulate bleeding.
From the foregoing, it is apparent that there has been provided an amusement device or toy which when used will simulate bleeding or blood. Thus, by gripping the toy 10 and then contacting an object or a person with the pointed end of the bladell, and then squeezing the handle 14, the red fluid within the chamber 15 will be expelled out through the tube 18 onto the object or person so that it will appear as though the person is bleeding. Thus, the user of the toy will derive additional pleasure from the realistic effect of bleeding. The inventive concept of using the fluid discharge mechanism may be embodied in other forms of elements as for example in Figure 6 there is shown a toy having a different configuration from that shown in Figures 1 through 5. In Figure 6 the handle 25 may be gripped, and then when the bayonet 27 contacts an object or person, the bulb 30 can be squeezed so that the red colored fluid will be discharged out through the tube 28 and out through the front end 29 to permit selective achievement of the bleeding effect.
It is to be noted that in Figures 1 through 5, the fluid tube 18 extends through the cavity 15 in the handle to within a short distance from the end of the handle. This construction is so that after the device has been used and the pressure on the handle released, it will suck all of the fluid back into the handle. This will leave the tube empty so that the knife, sword or the like will be prevented from dripping fluid when carried or hung in an In Figure 6 the device may be a practice bayonet.
The chamber 15 or the bulb 30 is filled with a red fluid and these members can be filled by squeezing the handle or the bulb and likewise the fluid can be expelled by squeezing the handle or bulb. Whenever the knife, sword or dagger hits the body of another person, it will inflict an imaginary bleeding wound by squeezing the handle or bulb. The parts can be made of any suitable material such as molded rubber, plastic, or the like. To fill the device, it is only necessary to squeeze the handle 14 or the bulb 30 and then insert the point of the blade in the fluid and let the bulb open slowly. The knife, sword, or dagger is then ready for use. In playing with the toy of the present invention, the knife will determine the skill of the user since it will show where the imaginary bleeding wound is inflicted and the red fluid is of a non- 0 poisonous and stainless variety.
I claim: An amusement device comprising a blade, a handle said fluid being red in color and non-staining, and non- 10 posionous, whereby when contact is made with the blade the handle can be squeezed so that the red fluid will be discharged through the tube for simulating bleeding so that the device can be used with increased pleasure due 15 to the realistic effect created.
