ATI'D RN EYs ates This invention relates to dairy farming and particularly trusses or supports for stock, and in particular a harness for retaining a sling and a truss ball in position over the vagina of a cow to support the womb after giving birth to a calf;
The purpose of this invention is to provide means for retaining a sling in position over the vagina of a cow for retaining the womb in proper position for healing.
After removing the afterbirt h the womb should be thoroughly cleaned and replaced and in numerous instances it is necessary to provide means for retaining the womb in-position for from several days to a week to obtaincomplete restoration of the muscles and adjacent parts. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a ball having a medicament therein and a sling whereby with the ball positioned in the womb andthe sling secured over the mouth of the vagina with harness secured on the body of the cow the womb is positively retained in position.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for retaining a sling over the mouth of the vagina of a cow with a truss ball in the womb for retaining the womb in position until the parts are completely retracted.
Another object of the invention is to provide harness for retaining a sling over the mouth of the vagina of a cow with a truss ball extended into the womb in which the device is adapted to be applied by the average layman.
A further object of the invention is to provide a womb support for a cow in which the support is of a simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a harness including longitudinally and transversely disposed back straps retained in position with a neck band, a belly band and sling straps and a sling and truss ball adapted to be retained over the vagina of a cow by the harness with the ball in the womb.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing the body of a cow with partsbroken away and illustrating the harness and sling with the sling retained in position by the harness and also showing a truss ball in broken lines.
Figure 2 is an end elevational view of the device showing the sling with the straps of the harness omitted, the sling being shown on an enlarged scale.
Figure 3 is a view showing the truss ball with part of the wall thereof broken away and with parts shown in section, the ball being shown on an enlarged scale.
Figure 4 is a view showing one of the forward straps adapted to be positioned on the back of the animal.
Figure 5 is a view of the back strap positioned on both sides of the rear of the animal.
Figure 6 is a view showing one of a pair of straps extended over the back of the animal.
Figure 7 is a view showing a neck band with attaching buckles extended from one side thereof.

Referring now to'the drawing wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved womb support for cows of this invention includes a sling 10, a truss ball 11, a pair of straps 12 adapted to be positioned on the forward portion of the-back of the animal, a neck band 13, a belly band 14; a pair of sling straps 15 and 16, straps17 extended from the belly band to the sling and back straps 18 and 19 extended from buckles 20 and 21 on the strap 17 over the back of the animal.
The sling 10 which may be made of duck, canvas, or other suitable flexible material is provided with an opening 22 and a slit 23 and a pluralityof straps 24 attached to the material of the sling at points'25 and extended across the slit with the opposite ends thereof secured by buckles 26 providemeans for attaching the cord 27 of the truss ball'11. The upper corners of the sling are provided with buckles 28"and 29, that are secured to the material of the sling with straps 3i) and 31, respectively and the lower corners are provided with similar buckles 32 and 33 that are secured to the sling with'straps 34 and 35, respectively. p
The truss ball 11, which is made ofa heavy flexible plastic, is provided'withperforations 36 and the interior is filled with a medicated gauze-as indicated by the numeral 37. V V
The belly band 14, as illustrated in Fig. 8, is provided with a buckle 38, on one end with openings 39 for receiving the tongue of the buckle on the opposite end and the intermediate part of the band is provided with pairs of buckles 40 and 41, adapted to be positioned on one side of the back, and 42 and 43 adapted to be positioned on the opposite side, the buckles 41 and 43 being positioned to receive ends of the back straps 12 and the buckles 40 and 42 being positioned to receive the forward ends of the straps 17. The belly band 14 is also provided with angularly disposed buckles 44 and 45 that are positioned to receive the forward ends of the sling straps 15 and 16. The opposite ends of the sling straps are secured to the buckles 32 and 33 at the lower end of the sling and the buckles 28 and 29, at the upper end of the sling are positioned to receive the rear ends of the straps 17.
The neck strap 13 is provided with a buckle 46 which is positioned on one end, the opposite end being provided with spaced openings 47 for receiving the tongue of the buckle and the intermediate part of the strap is provided with buckles 48 and 49 that are secured on ends of straps 50 and 51, respectively.
By this means a complete harness is provided with which the sling 10 may be retained in position over the mouth of the vagina of a cow retaining the womb in position and also retaining the truss ball in position in the womb.
It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. An animal harness comprising a belly band having spaced pairs of buckles extended from opposite sides thereof, a neck band having spaced buckles extended from one side, straps extended between the buckles of the belly band and neck band, a sling having buckles thereon, straps extended between the buckles of the sling and belly band, sling straps extended from the sling to the belly band and adapted to be positioned inside of the rear leg of an animal upon which the device is positioned, said sling having openings therethrough, and a perforated ball 7 having medicated materialtherein carried by the sling.
2. An animal harness comprising a belly band having spaced pairs of buckles extended from opposite sides thereof; aneck band having spaced buckles extended from one side, straps extended between the buckles of;the
bellybandand neck band, a sling having buckleslthereon,
