FRANK FONTNEAU, OF NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN ETZEN- SPERGER, OF ATTLEBOROUGrH,l MASSACHUSETTS.
ORNAMENTAL CHAIN..
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 281,988, dated July 24, 1883.
Application filed April 28, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK FONTNEAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and luseful Improvements in Ornamental Chains; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invenion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and' use the same, reference being had to the acccompanying drawings, and to letters or iigures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of this invention, and is a section taken through the beads or tubes, showing the bent wires and binding-wires. Fig. 2 is aview of the bent wire. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a part of the chain.
.This invention has relation to ornamental chains; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim appended.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, a designates the tubes of which the body of the chain is formed. These are of a length requisite to the width of the chain. A bent wire, Z, having a shortened middle bend adapted to enter the hollow end of the tubes,
and two arms, c c, longer than the middle bend, are employed to unite three of the tubes at their ends. The middle bend, d, enters one of the tubes, and the arms c c enter the two adjacent tubes. A binding-wire, c, is passed through the tube in which the bends are placed, and, passing over the inner portions of the bends, is drawn taut and twisted at one end, and turned into the hollow of the tube to conceal the twist. The arms onl one side of the next bent wire enter the ends of one of the outer of these tubes and a second tube, a, and a binding-wire, e, are again employed to secure the tubes and bent wires, and the tubes and binding-wires are added, until the chain is completed.
This forms a cheap and simple ornamental chain, and one which is quickly and easily constructed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described ornamental chain, consisting of the tubes a, bent wires b c c, and the binding-wires e, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK FONTNEAU.
