1 Claim. (Cl. 206-46) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in razor blade packages and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a package of this character comprising novel means whereby the blades may be expeditiously, safely and convenient- 1y dispensed one at a time, as needed.

Other objects of the invention are to provide an improved safety razor blade package of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple, compact, of light weight, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 4 is a perspective view, showing the final folding step;

Figure 5 is an enlarged view in transverse section taken substantially on the line 5-5 of Figure 2; and

Figure 6 is a view in vertical longitudinal section through the complete package.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a tape of suitable paper which is designated generally by reference character 7. The tape 7 includes a series of envelopes comprising substantially rectangular, longitudinally spaced sheets 8 for receiving thereon the safety razor blades, as indicated at 9. Relatively narrow strips 10 connect the sheets 8, said strips terminating in flared rear end portions providing pull tabs 11.

The sheets 8 comprise, on their rear ends and on opposite sides of the connecting strips 10, tongues or fingers 12 which are foldable longitudinally over the blades 9. The sheets 8 further include substantially triangular side flaps 13 which are foldable transversely over the tongues or fingers 12 and the blades 9. It will be noted that the substantially triangular flaps 13 leave the forward end portions of the blades 9 exposed.

To assemble the package, the blades 9 are placed longitudinally on the sheets 8 of the paper tape 7. The tongues or fingers 12 are then folded longitudinally and forwardly over the blades 9 in the manner shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. The side flaps 13 are then folded inwardly over the tongues or fingers 12 and the blades 9. The tape 7 with the blades 9 thereon is then zig-zaggedly folded in the manner suggested in Figure 4 of the drawing for stacking the blades one on the other. The stacked blades are then inserted in a box or container 14 of appropriate shape and dimensions having an opening 15 in the upper portion of one of the end walls 16 thereof. In the completed package, one end portion 17 of the tape 7 protrudes through the opening 15. To dispense the blades, one at a time, the end portion 17 of the tape 7 is pulled to withdraw the topmost or first blade from the container 14 through the opening 15. This first blade is detached for use by tearing the connecting strip 10, leaving the tab 11 thereof on the tape 7 exposed to facilitate removal of the next or second blade, etc. Of course, the procedure is repeated until all of the blades have been removed from the container. Any suitable advertising or other matter may be placed on the tape 7 and the container 14.

The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invent-ion to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

A razor 'blade dispensing package comprising: a zigzaggedly folded tape including a series of longitudinally elongated envelopes open at one end and comprising rectangular sheets, blades mounted in the envelopes on the sheets, said tape further including tearable strips joined to the ends of the sheets for detachably connecting the envelopes, said envelopes further comprising tongues on one end of the sheets on opposite sides of the connecting strips folded longitudinally over the blades and closing the other ends of the envelopes, said envelopes st-ill further comprising flaps on the sides of the sheets folded over the tongues and the blades, said flaps being substantially triangular and exposing the blades at the open ends of the envelopes, and a container enclosing the folded tape and blades and having a dispensing opening therein, said connecting strips including flared end portions at the open ends of the envelopes providing tabs on said envelopes for pulling same from the container through the opening after the connecting strips have been severed.
