4 claims. (C1. zzz- 482) This invention relates to liquid pourers.
Broadly, itis an object of this invention to provide a liquid pourer particularly adapted for liquor bottles so that a desired amount of liquor is dispensed in a uniform stream upon tilting of the bottle containing the pourer.
Heretof-ore, when liquor pourers have been used for a considerable period of time the corks would rot or wear and the pourer would loosen in the neck of the bottle and eventually fall out. Furthermore, the upper neck of the liquor bottle is not particularly beautiful.
It is, therefore, a specific object of this invention to provide a liquor pourer with a plastic collar at the bottom end thereof surrounding the cork in order to provide a firmer seat for the pourer upon the neck of the bottle and to hide the upper portion of the neck of the bottle thus enhancing the upper neck of the bottle. By the addition of a collar at the upper portion of the neck of the bottle, the bottle and the pourer are both enhanced in appearance while at the same time the pourer becomes more rmly seated upon the bottle.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of this invention, reference is had to the following detailed description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 6 is a bottom view of the completed pourer with the cork and collar members removed;
Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view taken through line 7 7 of Fig. l; and
Fig. 8 is a plan view of the lid or cover for the spout.
Referring to the drawings, numeral 10 represents a liquid pourer comprising an upper hollow portion 11 and a bottle neck portion 12, all preferably made of plastic material.
The upper portion 11 has a spout 13 projecting from the upper hollow portion 11, a pair of parallel Walls 14 leading from the bottle neck portion 12 through the upper portion to the spout 13. The walls 14 leading to the 'bottle neck portion 12 thus create a channel 15 that leads from the bottle neck portion through the upper portion and to the spout permitting the liquid contents of a bottle to pass through channel 15. Adjacent the liquid channel 15 at the bottle neck portion 12 there is an air channel 16 leading into air chamber 29 which in turn leads the air through air outlet 27 to the outside atmosphere. Air channel 16 is generally longer at the bottle neck portion than the liquid channel 15. Adjacent and above the spout there is a lin 17 having a small depression 18 for receiving the tits 25 of a pivoted cover 19 for covering the openings of the liquid channel 15 and air outlet 27 of the spout 13. At the base of the upper portion 11 and spaced fice equally distant from the bottle neck portion 12 there are two opposed depending tits 20.
The liquid pourer is made in two vertical halves with the usual tits 30 and depressions 31 for aligning the two vertical halves of the pourer. In assembling the pourer the halves shown in Figs. 1 and 2 are aligned and cemented together thus forming the liquid channel 15, air channel 16, air outlet 27 and air chamber 29. A circular collar 22, having a central opening 23 slightly larger than the circumference of the bottle neck portion and having two small holes 24 for receiving tits 20, is seated over the bottle neck portion 12, the tits preventing rotation of the collar 22. Collar 22 is cemented at its upper portion to the base of the upper portion 11 and the tapered hollow cork 21 is passed over the bottle neck portion 12. The hingeable cover 19 is attached to the tin 17 by inserting i the small tits 25 into the depressions 18 thus hingeably covering the openings of the spout 13. The assembly is thus completed.
When the pourer is seated upon the neck of a bottle, such as a liquor bottle, the upper lip of the bottle and the upper neck portion pass into the circular moat or channel 26 between the collar 22 and the cork 21 so that the depending ange of the circular collar 22 covers the upper portion `of the bottle. The cork 21 firmly seats the pourer upon the bottle while the upper lip of the bottle (not shown) is wedged slightly between the depending flange of the circular collar 22 and the soft upper portion of the tapered hollow cork 21, thus adding to the firmness of the seat of the liquid pourer upon the upper portion of the neck of the bottle.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the general spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A liquid pourer for a bottle, said pourer comprising an upper portion and a bottle neck portion, said upper portion having a projecting spout and a iin, a pivoted cover for said spout, a liquid pouring channel passing from said neck portion through said upper portion com municating with said spout, an air channel adjacent the lower portion of said liquid channel in said neck portion, said air channel longer than said liquid channel, said air channel leading to an interior air chamber in said upper portion and communicating with a small air outlet adjacent the liquid pouring channel of said spout, a tapered hollow cork seated upon said bottle neck portion and a collar attached to the bottom of said upper portion, said collar having a long depending ange covering and wedging the upper neck portion of a bottle between the inner wall of said depending flange and the upper tapered portion of said cork when said pourer is firmly seated upon the upper neck portion of the bottle.

A liquid pourer for a bottle, said pourer comprising two like halves, said pourer having an upper portion and a bottle neck portion, said upper portion comprising a hollow air chamber, a projecting spout, a iin for receiving a pivoted cover for covering the exit of said spout, an air channel adjacent the exit of said spout leading from said air chamber of said upper portion to the outside atmosphere, a liquid channel communicating with the spout and said bottle neck portion, an air channel parallel to said liquid channel leading from said bottle neck portion to said air chamber in said upper portion, a pair of opposed depending tits at the base of said upper portion, a circular collar having a long depending ange for attachment to the bottom of said upper portion, said collar having a central opening and two small opposed holes adapted to receive said depending tits, said depending auge of said collar adapted to cover the upper neck 3 portion of. a, bottle upon` which` said pourer seated, a tapered hollow cork seated upon said neck portion whereby when said liquid pourer is seated upon the upper neck` portion of a ,bottle the: upper `lip ot the bottle will be wedged between the upper part of,` said,` tapered cork and `the inner'. wall of said circular collar'.

4. A liquid poorer for a bottle,` said pourer comprising two like halves, said pourer having an upper portion and a bottle neck portion, said upper portion comprising a hollow air chamber, a projecting spout, an air channel adjacent the exit of saidA spout leading from said air chamber to the outside atmosphere, a liquid channel communicating with thespout and said bottle neck portion, an air channel parallel to said liquid channel leading from said bottle neck portion to said air chamber in said upper portion, a long circular collar attached to the bottom of said upper portion, said collar having a central opening through which said neck portion is passed, said collar adapted to cover the upper neck portion of a bottle upon which said pourer is seated, a hollow cork seated upon said neck portion whereby when said liquid pourer is seated upon the upper neck portion of a bottle the upper lip of the bottle will be wedged between the upper part of said cork and the inner wall of said circular collar.
