SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 279,739, dated June 19, 1883. i Application filed December 18, 1882. (No model.) I
v To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, H. E. GIFFORD, of New Bedford, Bristol county, Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement iii Funnels, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to that class of funnels in which provision is made for the escape of air from the vessel which is being filled. It will first be described in connection with all that is necessary to a full understanding thereof, and then pointed out in the claim.
The figure of drawing is a sectional elevation, showing my invention applied.
A representsaliquid-funnel; B, an air-'fun-j nel; C, a vessel being filled; b d, the funnelspouts, which enter the neck of the vessel, and c the intermediate space for the escape of air. Substantially this construction and arrangement of parts are well known in this branch of arts, and my object is to hold these funnels in such local relation that ribs will be rendered unnecessary in either funnel, and the holes,
so liable to clog in the liquid-funnel, will be dispensed with entirely. In order to accomplish this object, I employ the attachments e,
which are riveted at their lower ends to the HARRY E. GIFFORD.
