1 Claim. (Cl. 222-103) My invention relates to a dispensing device, and relates particularly to a dispenser for collapsible tubes, such as contains toothpaste, shaving cream, face cream, and miscellaneous products of paste or liquid form.
It is well known that unless care is taken in squeezing out the contents of a collapsible tube, unsightly corrugated deformations entrap portions of the contents, causing waste, and frequently the cause of these corrugations in the tubes cause fractures, and the contents of the tube work through the surface, resulting in wastage.
It is an object of my invention to provide an expeller for collapsible tubes which can easily be applied to a tube after it has been filled and sealed, and when the contents have been expelled from the tube the expeller may be used again on another full tube.
Another object of my invention is to provide an expe'ller for collapsible tubes which is easily and inexpensively manufactured, and which has no moving parts.
Another object of my invention is to provide an expeller for collapsible tubes which flattens the tube as it is progressively moved upwardly from the bottom end to the top and which also may carry thereon advertisements.
Another object of my invention is to provide an expeller for collapsible tubes which expels the contents thoroughly and thus eliminates waste.
Other objects of my invention are to provide an improved device of the character described, that is easily and economically produced, which is sturdy in construction, and which is highly efiicient in operation.
With the above and related objects in view, my invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts, as will be more fully understood from the following description, when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my expeller as mounted upon a collapsible toothpaste tube.
Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the expeller as mounted on the collapsible toothpaste tube.
Fig. 3 is a view of the expeller engaging the collapsible tube.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a modification of my invention.

Referring now in greater detail to the drawings, wherein similar reference characters refer to similar parts, I show a collapsible tube of conventional construction, generally designated as A, wherein toothpaste 10 is held. An expeller, generally designated as B, embraces the collapsible tube A and as it moves along it flattens the collapsible tube to expel the contents of the tube.
The expeller is formed from two single pieces of aluminum, plastic, or the like, 12 and 14. The member 12 extends the width of the collapsible tube and has a flattened portion 16 and a diverging portion 18. The ends of the flat portion 16 has a hook 20 which pierces openings 21 at the end of the flat portion 14. The portion 14 is adapted to swing with respect to the portion 12 so that the portions 12 and 14 are hooked together, whereby relative pivotal movement occurs. The hook 20 permits the two flat finger portions to be separated so that they press the collapsible tube, as is shown in Fig. 3.
In Figs. 5 and 6, I show a modification of my invention wherein the expeller, generally designated as B1, has two stems 22 about which the portion 14 is mounted. The stems 22 have an oil-set to prevent the expeller blanks from separating. In Fig. 1, the expeller blanks are always held together, whereas in Figs. 5 and 6, the expellers can be separated.
In Figs. 7 and 8, I show the expellers, generally designated as B2, as held by an elastic or spring 24. The expellers have suflicient space on the outside to carry an advertisement or instructions, or a trademark or symbol for making the expeller more attractive.
Although my invention has been described in considerable detail, such description is intended as being illustrative rather than limiting, since the invention may be variously embodied, and the scope of the invention is to be determined as claimed.
I claim :as my invention:
A removable and re-usable expeller for collapsible tubes comprising a pair of separable members in pivotal engagement with each other, each of said members having a flat portion and a diverging portion extending therefrom, and a pair of spaced hooks integrally bent from the fiat portion of one of said members, said hooks extending through a pair of correspondingly spaced openings in the flat portion of the second member, whereby pressing the two diverging portions toward one another when the expeller is slidably mounted upon a collapsible tube will eXpell the contents of the tube in a uniform manner.
