To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWIN A. ROBBINS, of Boston, in the county of Suifolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Gulf-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to provide a cheap, simple, efficient, and convenient cuffholder, which shallserve the purposes of the common stocking or garment supporters heretofore constructed and now in general use, and it consists in the combination, construction, and arrangement of the parts composing the device, as hereinafter more fully described, and set forth in the claims.

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a cuif-holder constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2 represents a section through a cuff and sleeve with the holder attached thereto. Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal section of the said holder.

A represents a shirt-cuff, and B a wristband, of a shirt of usual construction; and in order to attach and support thoseparate or false shirt-cuff A to the shirt-wristband B, which is permanently attached to the sleeve of the shirt, I have provided a cuff-holder, so as to permit the same to be adjusted therewith, so as to show more or less, when in use, below or beyond the end of the coat-sleeve, and also to permit the said cuffs to be reversed and quickly adj usted,or be removed therefrom when soiled or at any time when not required.

0 represents a cuff-holder, consisting of a flat sheet-metal body portion, one end of which is extended and bent into a bow-spring, D, leaving the free end E resting upon the said body portion (3, near the end thereof, so as to form a spring-clamp for holding the cuif A when inserted between the said free end E and body portion 0, which are of such length as to permit the cuff A to be adjusted therein longitudinally when desired, so as to be retained in position to show more or less, as desired. The opposite end of the said holder is made to be attached to the shirt-wristband B or other portion of a garment by means of the pivoted or hinged double pins F, the central right-angle body portion of which is loosely connected with the end of the flat sheet-metal body portion 0 by its being formed into an eye, H, or bent around the central or rightangle body portion connecting the pins F, as shown. The said pins F, being nearly or quite parallel with each other, are forced into and through beneath a portion of the Wristband B or other portion of the garment, and thence out again upon the face or side of insertion, and then pressed inwardly or toward each other, and the points placed within the curved loops L, formed upon opposite sides of the said body portion 0, whereby the said holder is secured temporarily to the shirt-wristband or other portion of a garment.

In order to produce a firmer hold or grip upon the cuff A when placed within the springholder 0 D E, there is formed upon the portions 0 E a projection and a slight cavity to correspond therewith, whereby the cuff may be indented therein or thereby, so as to be retained more firmly by the said spring-clamp, thereby permitting thinner orlighter metal to be employed in the construction of the said supporter or holder.

It will be seen and understood that by means of the attaching-pins F the holder may be attached to the lining of a coat-sleeve with the same facility, whereby the shirt-cuff would be retained in position when the coat was being worn and removed from the wrists of the wearer when the coat was removed. If desired, one of the said attachingpins F might be dispensed with in some cases; but I prefer the double pins F, as shown.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. A cufi holder consisting of the flat sheetmetal body portion 0, provided with the curved hook or catch L, hinged or pivoted pin F, eye or joint H, bow-spring D, and clamp E, all constructed and arranged for operation, sub stantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
