The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in storage devices for paint brushes after using the latter.

An important object of the invention is to provide a flexible container or bag adapted to contain a suitable liquid in which the brush is immersed and providing means for supporting the bag in an upright position.

Another object is to construct the supporting means for the bag so as to suspend the brush therefrom in the bag to maintain the bristles of the brush above the bottom of the bag.

A further object is to equip the bag-supporting means with a hanger by means of which the bag may be suspended from an overhead structure, and to also provide the bag-supporting means with legs adapted to support the bag in an upright position on a shelf or the like.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is eificient and reliable in operation, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which the same is intended.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view;

Figure 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken on a line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bag-supporting member;

Figure 4 is a perspective view of a modified construction;

Figure 5 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken on a line 55 of Figure 4; and,

Figure 6 is a perspective view of the modified bagsupporting member.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of my invention, and first with respect to the construction shown in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive, the numeral 5 designates a flexible bag, which may be constructed of plastic or other suitable material, and of a size for placing a paint brush 6 therein with the bristles of the brush enclosed in the lower portion of the bag and the top of the bag closed about the handle of the brush by a tie member 7.

A preferably rectangularly shaped wire frame 8 surrounds the bag and is secured thereto by adhesive strips or tapes 9 to maintain the bag in an expanded position and a wire hanger 10 extends upwardly from the frame and is formed with an eye 11 at its upper end for attaching to a nail or other suitable fastener to support the bag in a suspended position therefrom.

A portion of the wire frame 8 is coiled about the hanger 10 to form a horizontal pin 12 which projects inwardly at one side of the bag and adapted for insertion in an opening 13 in the handle of the brush to support the brush in a suspended position in the bag and with the bristles of the brush raised above the bottom of the bag.

Legs 14 are suitably fixed to the frame 8 preferably at the corners of the latter and extend downwardly below the bottom of the bag to rest on a shelf or the like to support the bag in the upstanding position in place of the hanger 10.

The bag 5 is watertight and a suitable liquid is placed therein to a level above the bristles of the brush to keep the bristles soft while the brush is stored in the bag.

In the modified construction shown in Figures 4 to 6 inclusive, the rectangularly shaped wire frame is designated by the numeral 15 and is secured inside the bag 16 by adhesive tapes 17 and the hanger rod 18 extends upwardly therefrom to a position above the top of the bag for attaching to a nail or the like (not shown). The hanger rod is also provided with a horizontal paint brush supporting pin 19 on which the brush is supported in an elevated position above the bottom of the bag.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

A paint brush storage device comprising a flexible container in which a brush is adapted to be placed, means securing the top of the container in closed position to the handle of the brush, and means attached to the container intermediate its top and bottom and supporting the structure in an elevated position and comprising a rigid rectangular frame member to which the walls of the container are secured at all sides of the frame to maintain the container in expanded position.
