Patent of the United States were issued to me" May 23, 1882, N 0. 258,228, and has for its object to provide a device adapted to protect the bottom as well as the edges of the sole after the latter hasbeen finished and while the boot orshoe is undergoing the treeing operation.
To this end the invention consists in the improved device which I will now proceed to de-' scribe and claim;
Of the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figures 1 and 2 represent perspective views of asole-protector embodying my invention, showing both sides of the same. Fig. 3 represents a transverse section of the same applied to a sole.
In carrying out my invention I form a soleprotector, A, adapted to cover the bottom and edge of a boot or shoe sole. Said protector is made in two parts, 2 3, each of which com prises about one-half of the bottom and edge protecting portions of the device, and a connecting-strip of elastic material, which constitutes also a portion of the bottom and edge being quickly applied to soles of difl'erent sizes and of holding itself in place when applied, so that an efficient protector is provided, which will protect the buffed bottoms ofsoles, as'well as the edges, from being soiled and defaced while the final treeing operation is being performed.
I claim The improved sole-protector composed of the two parts adapted to cover the bottom and edges of the sole, and the intermediate elastic part or con nectiou, as set forth. V
