(No Model.)
]5.D. THOMASON.
ADJUSTABLE HOOK. No. 274,672. l Patented Ma.1r.27,1883.
Y m1125555: I- V Inventur:
UNITED-'l STATES FRANK D. THOMASON, lOF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
4ADJUSTABLE HofoK.
` SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 274,672, dated March 27, 1883.-
Application tiled August 15, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, FRANK 1I). THoMAsoN, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of-Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in AdjustableH'ooks; and I do declareV that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The value of my invention is, that it can be adjustably used fora variety of purposes-as, for instance, clothes-line hook, clothes-hook for4 closet, butcher-stall hook, picture-hooks, &c..
`and it is simple and'cheap in construction,
substantially as hereinafter described, and as illustrated in the drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side view; Fig. 2, a perspective view, and Fig. 3 a view showing it used as a clothes-hook and secured to acleat or batso as to present a knife-edge, b, which is serrated or notched, as shown in the drawings.
Pivoted at or near the point of unition of the hook A and its curved extension B is a curved arm or prong, C, the curvature of which is contrary to that of the extension B, the one being to the right andthe other to the left.
` It will be noticed that the prong C and extension A are adapted to grasp 'the object to which the hook is to be axed, and that any Weight or pulling on the hook A will tend to more thoroughly fasten or secure the same in position.
It will also be noticed that in order to adapt it to the various uses hereinbefore specified it will be necessary to slightly change the t curvature and the angle of the extension to the hook. I do not, however, confine myself to the exact curvature or form shown, for it is obvious they can be departed from without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is y The improved hook consisting of the inwardly-curved attaching-,hook C, having pivoted to vthe end of its shank the reverselycurved hooks A and B, the hooks B and C being adjustable, as described, and the hook A being adapted to support a garment or other article,`substantially as set forth.
FRANK D. THOMASON.
