SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Iatent No. 274,499, dated March 27, 1883.
Application filed August 21, 1882. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern Fig. 2 is a view of the cutting end of the tongs.
The tongs consist of the arms A B, pivoted at a, and provided with curved jaws b b, the cutting-edges of which are wider than the body of the jaws, as shown in Fig. 2. The arm A is considerably shorter than the arm B, and its lower end is curved toward said arm, as shown. To the lower end' of the arm A is pivoted the lever O, at c. It extends a short distance above the pivotal point and below it the length of the arm B, both being provided with handles D, as shown. Pivoted to the upper end of the lever O, and to the arm B a short distance above the level of the end of the arm A, is the bar E, which acts as a fulcrum for the lever G.
What I claim is- The combination of the arms A B, pivoted together at a, and having curved jaws b, the lever 0, pivoted to the lower end of the arm A,-and the bar E, pivoted to the upper end of .the lever C and to the arm B at a point be- JOPHAN US H. KENNEDY.
