In order to eifect lateral movement of dipper stick 27 and bucket 29, plate or support 24 is provided with the supporting structure 43 which may be at one side of support 24 as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 5, or may be posi tioned on the upper side thereof, as shown in Fig. 4 and to this reinforcing structure 43 is pivotally connected at 44 the end of cylinder 45 in which is a piston or ram 46 which is pivotally connected to pin 47 which extends through slot 48 and which pin is connected to plate and adapted to effect pivotal movement thereof, within the range limited the slot 48 and'length of cylinder and ram and 46.
The hydraulic system is adapted to be actuated by the 3 usual hydraulic pump (not shown) carried by the tractor and the hydraulic fluid is supplied by tank 49. From said hydraulic pump, fluid is supplied under pressure to control valve 50'which is adapted to be controlled by the operator, through the operating levers 51, each .of
which is connected to one of the valve members 52 in control valve 59. Control valve 50 is connected to cylinders 21 by hydraulic lines 53 and 54 and to cylinders 18 by hydraulic lines 55 and 56. Control valve 50 is also connected to cylinder 38 by hydraulic lines 57 and 58 and to cylinder45 by hydraulic lines 59 and 60 where upon operation of theproper operating lever 51, the corresponding control valve 52 will be actuated thereby supplying hydraulic fluid to actuate the piston and rams in desireddirection toeffect desired operation of the device.
vehicle on which the apparatus is mounted and further that by operation of ram 37 and cylinder 38, that closure member 30 can be actuated to eifect removal of the material from the bucket 29 or to position closure member 30 in desired position within bucket 29.
In Figs. 2 and 4 as shown in dotted lines, the bucket is in various lateral positions. It will be apparent that the range of such lateral movement will be controlled through the length of slot 48, their ends of which act as stops and also the length of cylinder 45 and ram 46.
It is pointed out that by the use of the device of this invention that the apparatus may be employed for trenching or loading and that a much wider range of dumping of the bucket is provided without the necessity of any movement of the vehicle itself, which serves to considerably speed up and facilitate the operation of the device.
It will be seen that the dipper stick may be pivoted laterally regardless of the angular relation of the dipper stick and push arms thereby providing in effect a universal movement thereof giving much greater range of loading without movement of either the vehicle on which the apparatus is mounted or a vehicle to be loaded.
Also the apparatus may be mounted on any type vehicle and on the front or rear thereof.

In aadevice of the character described, supporting the free ends of said arms and means for pivoting said connecting means relative to said arms, a bucket carrying dipper stick pivotally connected intermediate its ends to said supporting means for pivotal movement in a direction substantially parallel with the axis of said supporting arm means, hydraulically actuated means for pivoting said dipper stick in such parallel direction for digging, a second pivotal connection between said dipper stick and said supporting means whereby said dipper stick may be pivoted in a direction substantially normal to the axis of said supporting means, and hydraulically actuated means for pivoting said dipper stick in such normal direction for loading and means for limiting the extent of pivotal movement of said dipper stick in such normal direction, said means for limiting the extent of normal pivotal movement of said dipper stick comprising a curved slot on said connecting means and a pin on said dipper stick and extending into said slot.
2. A digger attachment adapted to be mounted on a vehicle, a supporting arm extending axially of the vehicle and pivoted thereto at one end, whereby the free end, remote from said vehicle, may be raised and lowered, support means pivoted to and extending vertically from said arm at its free end, means to rock said support about its pivot in the plane of the vehicle axis, a dipperstick mounted on said support means and pivoted thereto on an axis normal to the said support means, and means to selectively rotate said dipper-stick on said axis whereby said dipper-stick may be swung into substantially horizontal position normal to the axis of said vehicle.
3. The digger attachment of claim 2 in which said means to rotate said dipper-stick on said axis comprises a hydraulic cylinder andpiston means.
4. The digger attachment of claim 2 in which said .means to rotate said dipper-stick on said axis comprises a'hydraulic cylinder and piston means, a pin mounted on said dipper-stick eccentric to said axis, said pin passing through said support, said hydraulic means being secured at one end to said support and at the other to said pin.
5. The digger attachment of claim 2 in which said means to rotate said dipper-stick on said axis comprises a hydraulic cylinder and piston means, and means for limiting the extent of pivoted movement of said dipperstick about said axis, said means for limiting the extent of such pivotal movement comprising an arcuate slot in said support and a pin extending therethrough.
