{The basket 11 includes a lowerrendless loop of wire :13 ofsubstantially square configuration having rounded corners and connected in vertically spaced relationship to an intermediate endless loop 1.4 and an upper endlessfloop 15 of identical size and shape as the lower loop 13 by meansof the corner posts 16, the corner posts 16 being suitably welded to the insides of the loops 13,14 and 15.

The loops 13, 14 and 15 are further secured together intermediate their corners by means of the braces 17 0f inverted, U-shaped configuration, the braces KTbeingsuitably welded to the insides of the loops. it will be noted that two such braces 37 are provided for each. side of thebasket and that two pairs of oppositely disposed braces 17 ar Connected by the horizontal wires. 38 intermediate the loops 13 and and intermediate the loops l land 15.

As shown in Figure 6, a pair of opposite sides ofthe lower loop 13 of the basket are connected by parallel, closely spaced wires 19 welded at their opposite ends to the top of the loop 13. Parallel, widely spaced wires 20 disposed at substantially right angles to the wires 19 are .welded across the tops of the latter, extending to the other opposite sides of the loop 13 of the basket and cooperating with wires 19 to provide a closelyspaced grillsupporting the bottoms of the drinking glasses 21.

, Parallel, widely spaced wires 24 connect a pair of opposite sides of the upper loop 15, the ends of the wires "24 being welded to the underside of the loop with the wires 24 aligned vertically with the wires 23 ofthe intermediate loop. Second parallel, widely spaced wires 25 connect the other opposite sides of the loop 15, the ends of the wires 25 being welded to the underside of the loop -15, the Wires 25 passing under the wires 24 and being welded thereto to form a widely spaced grill receiving the a drinking glasses 21 downwardly therethrough in spaced relationship, thewires 25 being alignedvertically with the wires 22.

The basket 11 is adapted to support thereon a plurality oftthe drinking glasses 21, retaining the latter in spaced relationship to each other.

' One pair of opposite sides of the upper loop 28 are connected by parallel, widely spaced wires 30, the opposite ends of the wires 3% being welded to the top of the loop 28. The wires 39 are aligned vertically withthe Wires 25 of the basket member. One of the wires 30a is integrally formed at its ends with the depending vertical posts 31, the posts 31 extending downwardly at right angles to the wire Sila and being welded to the outside of the intermediate loop 27 and the lower loop 26. A pair of oppositely disposed handles are pivotally mounted on each of the posts 31 intermediate the intermediate loop 27 and the lower loop 26 and. are indicated generally at 32 (Figure formed from a unitary length wire and includes an outer end 33' formed at right angles thereto with the sides 34. Each of the sides 34 is formed with a loop 35 with the free inner ends thereof being looped twice about the post 31, as at 36, being then doubled back and extending parallel to the sides 34, as at 37, and terminating in loops 38 substantially parallel to the loops 35.

A bushing 39 sleeves each of the posts 31 intermediate the looped portions 36 of the handles 32.

The loops 26, 27 and 28 of thecover 12 are slightly larger than the loops 13, 14 and 15 of the basket 11,

permitting the cover 12 to be slipped downwardly onto the basket in nesting relationship thereto as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 7, with the wires 30 resting on the open upper ends of the drinking glasses 21. The cover 12 is placed downwardly onto the basket 11 with the-handles 32 in the open position of Figure 3 and disposed adjacent the horizontal wires 18 of the basket. The handles 32 are then rotated in the direction of the arrows of vFigure 3 to the parallel positions of Figure l, which movement causes the lowermost loops 35 and 38 to snap into locking position intermediate the upper loop 15 and the uppermost brace of wire 18, as shown in Figure 7.

It will be noted that the ends 33 of the handle 32 extend beyond one side of the rack 1% (Figure permitting the same to be grasped in both hands when dipping the rack and glasses into a cleaning solution or the like. By this construction the rack 10 may also be inverted (Figure 2) to permit the glasses to drain. Thus the handles 32 not only permit the rack 10 to be manipulated in a convenient manner, but also serve to lock the cover 12 to the basket 11 and permit the rack to be inverted without dropping the drinking glasses.

As shown in Figure 8, the rack It) may also be employed with drinking glasses 21a of less height than the drinking glasses 21, in which case the wires 30 of the cover 12 will rest directly on the upper loop of the basket 11, and both the upper and lower loops 35 and 38 of the locking handles 32 being snapped intermediate the lower loop 13, the lowermost wire 18 and the intermediate loop 14.

Referring now particularly to Figures 9-17, there is shown a modified form of the present invention indicated generally at 49 and including a basket indicated generally at 41 and a removable cover therefore indicated generally at 42, substantially as illustrated.

The basket 41'includes a lower endless loop of wire 43 of substantially square configurationand provided with rounded corners, the lower loop 43 being connected in vertically spaced relationship to an intermediate loop 44 and an upper loop 45, both identical in size and shape with the lower loop 43, by means of the posts 46. It will be noted that the posts 46 are welded to the insides of the loops 43, 44 and '45, one pair of oppositely disposed sides of the basket 41 being provided with four posts 46 while the other pair of oppositely disposed sides thereof are provided with three posts 46.

The loops 43, 44 and 45 are further connected to each Each of the handles 32 is other at their corners by means of the corner posts 47 of inverted U-shaped configuration, the sides of the posts 47 tapering downwardly and coming together attheir lower ends while the upper looped portions thereof are bent inwardly, substantially as illustrated.

A pair of opposite sides of the lower loop 43 are con nected by the parallel, closely spaced wires 48, the opposite ends of the wires 48 being welded to the upper side of the loop 43. Second parallel, widely spaced wires 49 (Figure 15) connect the other opposite sides of loop 43, the opposite ends of the wires 49 being welded to the underside of loop 43, the wires 49 passing under the wires 48 and being welded thereto. Thus the wires 48 and 49 form a closely spaced latticework design to support the lower ends of the drinking glasses 21.

A pair of opposite sides of the intermediate loop 44 are connected by the parallel, widely spaced wires 50 (Figure 17), the opposite ends of the wires 50 being welded to the underside of the loop 44. The'other opposite sides of the loop 44 are connected by second parallel, widely spaced wires 51, the opposite ends of the wires 51 being welded to the underside of the loop 44. The wires 51 pass under the wires 50 and are Welded thereto, the wires 50 and 51 forming a widely spaced latticework adapted to receive the drinking glasses 21 therethrough in spaced relationship to each other.

The sides of the basket 41 having four posts 46 are provided with horizontal wires 54, the opposite ends of the wires 54 being welded to the innermost pair of posts 46. It will be noted that a first pair of wires 54 is disposed intermediate the lower loop 43 and intermediate loop 44, and a second pair intermediate loop 44 and upper loop 45.

The cover 42 includes a lower endless loop of wire 55 of substantially square configuration and having rounded corners, the lower loop 55 being connected in vertically spaced relationship to an intermediate loop 56 and upper loop 57, both identical in size and shape with the lower loop 55, by means of the posts 58. The posts '58, it will be noted, are welded to the outsides of the loops 55, 56

and 57.

Opposite sides of the upper loop 57 are connected by' parallel, widely spaced wires 59, the opposite ends of the wires 59 being welded to the upper side of the loop 57. i

As shown in Figure 12, the intermediate loop 56 on a pair of opposite sides thereof is provided with laterally aligned loop formations 60, while the lower loop 55 is provided with loop formations 61 aligned vertically with the loop formations 6! A pin 62 is rotatably mounted within each of the vertically aligned loops 60, 61, the upper and lower ends of the pins 62 being peened, as at 63 and 64, whereby to prevent displacement'of the pins through the loops in an obvious manner.

A pair of handles indicated generally at 65 are pivotally mounted on each of the pins 62. Each of the handles 65 includes an outer vertical end portion 66 connected at its lower end to a horizontal side portion 67 and at its upper end to a horizontal side portion 68, the inner end of the upper side portion 68 being formed with a vertical portion 69 which is in turn formed at as illustrated in Figure 12. In other respects the use and operation of the rack 42' r is similar to the rack 10 previously described.

While various changes may be made in the detailed construction it should be understood that such changes sshall be within the spirit andscope roftthe appended claims.

An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or 'the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto 'said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides or" said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, one of said spaced wires at opposite ends thereof being formed with vertical posts secured to the outside of said lower, intermediate and upper loops, each of said handle means being mounted on one of said posts intermediate said lower and intermediate loops. 7

An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop and an upper endless loop, :said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectangular configuration adapted to fit within said cover loops, an intermediate loop, and an upper loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said basket lower loop, substantially vertical corner posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops to each other in vertically spaced relationship, substantially inverted U-shaped loops connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops intermediate said corner posts, and horizontal, vertical spaced struts connecting an innermost oppositely disposed pair of said inverted U-shaped loops, each of said handle means including vertically spaced, vertically aligned, in-

wardly extending projections adapted to be snapped intermediate a selected pair of said horizontal wires.

An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means .1 iii) g 7 adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop, and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectangular configuration adapted to fit within said cover loops, an intermediate loop, and an upper loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said basket lower loop, substantially vertical corner posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops to each other in vertically spaced relationship, subcluding vertically spaced, vertically aligned, inwardly extending projections adapted to be snapped intermediate a selected pair of said horizontal wires, a plurality of substantially parallel, closely spaced wires connecting a.

pair of opposite sides of said basket lower loop, and second parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said lower basket loop at substantially right angles to said first wires and providing therewith a closely spaced latticework adapted to support thereo the bottoms of the drinking glasses. 7

An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectangular configuration adapted to fit within said cover loops, an intermediate loop and an upper loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said basket lower'loop, substantially vertical corner posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops to each other in vertically spaced relationship, substantially inverted U-shaped loops connectingrsaid lower, intermediate and upper basket loops intermediate said corner posts, and horizontal, vertical spaced struts connecting an innermost oppositely disposed pair of said inverted U-shaped loops, each of said handle means including vertically spaced, vertically aligned, inwardly extending projections adapted to be snapped intermediate 8. 7

An article of the class described comprising basketmeans open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means 'adaptedlto fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop, and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate endless loop, and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower basket loop, side posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops in spaced relationship to each other, corner posts further connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops to each other, each of said corner posts being of substantially inverted U-shaped configuration having the sides thereof converging to said lower basket loop and having their upper looped ends bent inwardly, and substantially horizontal, vertically spaced wires connectingthe innermost pairs of said side posts on oppositely disposed sides of said basket, each of said handle means including inwardly extending, vertically spaced projections adapted to be snapped intermediate a selected pair of said horizontal wires, first parallel, closely spaced wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said lower basket loop, and second parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said lower basket loop and forming with said first wires a latticework adapted to support thereon the bottoms of the drinking glasses or the like, third parallel, widely spaced wires connecting a pair l 12 fourth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said intermediate basket loopand formf ing with said third wires a widelyspaced latticework adapted to receive downwardly therethrough the drinldng glasses in freely spaced relationship to each other, fifth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said upper basket loop, and sixth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said upper basket loop and forming with said fifth' wires a widely spaced latticework adapted to receive downwardly therethrough a drinking glass or the like, said upper loop latticework being aligned vertically with said intermediate loop latticework.

An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support therewithin in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop, and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate endless loop, and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower basket loop, side posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops in spaced relationship to each other, corner posts further connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket'loops to each other, each of said corner posts being of substantially inverted ,U-shaped configuration having the sides thereof converging to said lower basket loop and having their upper looped ends bent inwardly, and substantially horizontal, vertically spaced wires connecting the innermost pairs of said side posts on oppositely disposed sides of said basket, each of said handle means including inwardly extending, vertically spaced projections adapted to be snapped intermediate a selected pair of said horizontal wires, first parallel, closely spaced wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said lower basket loop, and second parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said lower basket loop and forming with said first wires a latticework adapted to support thereon the bottoms of the drinking glasses or the like, third parallel, widely spaced wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said intermediate basket loop, and fourth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said intermediate basket loop and forming with said third wires a widely spaced latticework adapted to widely spaced latticework adapted to receive downwardly l therethrough a drinking glass or the like, said upper loop latticework being aligned vertically with said intermediate loop latticework, said lower and intermediate basket loops on a pair of oppositely disposed sides'thereof being provided with vertically aligned loop formations, verticalpins rotatably mounted within said vertically aligned loop formations, each of said handle means comprising a unitary length of wire having vertically spaced, horizorital side portions, said side portions being formed with vertically aligned, inwardly extending loops, the inner ends of said side portions being looped around said pins and being formed with second inwardly extending, vertically aligned loops, said first and second vertically aligned loops being adapted to snap intermediate vertically spaced pairs of said horizontal wires provided on opposite sides of said basket means and sleeve means on each of said pins intermediate the looped inner ends of said side portions.

16. An article of the class described comprising basket means open at the top and adapted to support there- Within in spaced relationship a plurality of drinking glasses or the like, cover means adapted to fit downwardly onto said basket means and adapted to retain the drinking glasses within said basket, and a pair of pivotally mounted handle means on opposite sides of said cover means adapted to be rotated against said cover and basket means, said handle means adapted to lock said cover means to said basket means, said cover means comprising a lower endless loop wire of substantially rectangular configuration, an intermediate loop and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower loop, vertical posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper loops in vertically spaced relationship to each other and substantially parallel, spaced wires connected at opposite ends to a pair of opposite sides of said upper loop, said basket means comprising a lower endless loop of substantially rectan nlar configuration, an intermediate endless loop and an upper endless loop, said intermediate and upper loops being identical in size and shape with said lower basket loop, side posts connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops in spaced relationship to each other, corner posts further connecting said lower, intermediate and upper basket loops to each other, each of said corner posts being of substantially inverted U-shaped configuration having the sides thereof converging to said lower basket loop and having their upper looped ends bent inwardly, and substantially horizontal, vertically spaced wires connecting the innermost pairs of said side posts on oppositely disposed sides of said basket, each of said handle means including inwardly extending, vertically spaced projections adapted to be snapped intermediate a selected pair of said horizontal wires, first parallel, closely spaced Wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said lower basket loop, and second parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said lower basket loop and forming with said first Wires a latticework adapted to support thereon the bottoms of the drinking glasses or the like, third parallel, widely spaced wires connecting a pair of opposite sides of said intermediate basket loop, and fourth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said intermediate basket loop and forming with said third wires a widely spaced latticework adapted to receive downwardly therethrough the drinking glasses in freely spaced relationship to each other, fifth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting a pair of opopsite sides of said upper basket loop, and sixth parallel, widely spaced wires connecting the other opposite sides of said upper basket loop and forming with said fifth wires a widely spaced latticework adapted to receive downwardly therethrough a drinking glass or the like, said upper loop latticework being aligned vertically with said intermediate loop latticework, said lower and intermediate basket loops on a pair of oppositely disposed sides thereof being provided with vertically aligned loop formations, vertical pins rotatably mounted within said vertically aligned loop formations, each of said handle means comprising a unitary length of wire having vertically spaced, horizontal side portions, said side portions being formed with vertically aligned, inwardly extending loops, the inner ends of said side portions being looped around said pins and being formed with second inwardly extending, vertically aligned loops, said first and second vertically aligned loops being adapted to snap intermediate vertically spaced pairs of said horizontal wires provided on opposite sides of said basket means and sleeve means on each of said pins intermediate the looped inner ends of said side portions, said handle means including vertically enlarged outer ends extending beyond the sides of the racks when said handle means are locked thereagainst whereby to facilitate handling of the rack.
