Claims priority, application French Morocco November 20, 1951 Claims. (CI. 30-43) The invention relates to a dry shaver of the kind which comprises fixed combs provided with lateral teeth on which are displaced in alternating movement, movable combs also provided with lateral teeth overlapping the teeth of the fixed combs, so that the movable combs are always in contact with the skin of the user. The present invention is designed to provide a removable working head particularly for electric shavers of the kind referred to above.
One of the purposes of the invention is to ensure a perfeet contact between the whole cutting line of the movable blade and the fixed comb of the working head all times during use of the electric shaver comprising this head.
Another object of the invention is to allow the locking of said head, in the housing provided to this effect, in the body of an electric shaver and its easy replacement or removal, without any necessity of using any tool.

with a middle notch and, on the other hand, with two apertures through which are passed supporting axles for rollers on top of which bear the ends of an elastic blade which bears, at its middle portion, below a roller carried by the fixed combs, said roller being arranged in the notch of the blades, the depth of which is sufiicient for preventing this latter roller from ever coming in contact with its bottom so that the spring which presses on a sharp edged portion of the rollers arranged between the two blades, keeps the later suitably applied on top of the fixed combs, whatever may be their motion relatively to each other and/ or to the fixed combs.
In accordance with another feature of the invention, locking of the wor ing head in the body of the shaver is ensured by means of balls arranged in cages, in said head, said balls being pushed by springs into apertures, provided to this effect in the body of the shaver.
Various other features of the removable working head in accordance with the invention will appear from the following detailed description.
One form of embodiment of the object of the invention is represented, by way of a non limitative example, in the appended drawing.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the removable head for an electric shaver with the movable blades partly in section.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation, on a smaller scale, taken along the line II-II of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section taken along the broken line IIIIII of Figure 2.
In the appended drawings 1 and 2 designate two metal blades the curved ends of which, 1a and 2a are designed for cooperating with fixed combs 3 and 4.
The blades 1, 2 are connected together by elements 5 and 6 acting as cross-braces. The elements 5 and 6 are engaged in holes 5a, 6a, provided, to this efiect, in the sides of the blades 1 and 2. The dimensions of the 2 elements 5, 6 are calculated so that the blades 1, 2 may have, between them, relative motions of some amplitude. According to the form of embodiment shown, theends of the cylindrical elements 5 and 6 have a smaller diameter than the holes 5a, 6a.
The fixed combs are held, at their lower portion, by
cross-braces 7, 8 secured by any suitable means, between flanges formed by each of the two fixed combs.
The portions 3a and 4a, of the fixed combs, also support, as shown particularly in Figures 2 and 3, a part 9 with the shape of a roller. The middle portion of the roller 9 forms an annular rib 10, with a sharp edge 10a.
The blades 1 and 2 are shaped, opposite the roller 9, with notches 11, the depth and width of which have been suitably calculated for allowing these blades to move without ever coming in contact with this roller.
The blades 1 and 2 (Fig. 2) are provided near their ends, with apertures 12 and 13, in the shape of keyholes, through which are passed the ends of axles 14 and 15 which support rollers 16, arranged between the two blades. These rollers, like the roller 9, form, at their middle portion, annular ribs 17, with a sharp edge 18.
The reference numeral 19 (Figure l), designates flanges or flanged plugs secured at each of the axles 15, 16 so as to prevent them from moving out of the apertures 12, 13, the upper portion of which, as shown in Figure 2, is wider than the lower portion, to allow the engagement of the axles when assembling the apparatus.
The sharp edges 18, formed by the ribs 17 of the rollers 16 serve for supporting the curved ends 29a and 20b, of an elastic blade 29, the middle portion of which bears, on its top, against the edge itla of the rib 14 of the roller 9 The elasticity of the blade 20 has the elfect of holding the axles 14, 15 of the rollers 16 in the bottom of the apertures 12, 13, and thus of applying the upper edges 1a, 2a of the blades 1 and 2 on the top of the fixed combs 3, 4 which ensures a close and permanent contact between these various parts.
Due to the existence of the ribs, with which each of the above described rollers is provided, the elastic blade 20 is always balanced, whatever may be the relative motion of some parts relatively to the others, so that the contact between the fixed combs and the movable blades is always suitably maintained. V
In order to allow an easy assembling of the above described assembly inside the body 25 of an electric shaver, the flanges formed at the lower portion of the fixed combs support, between them, cages 21 and 22 in which are arranged springs 23 working in compression. These springs exert outward pressure on balls or push elements with spherical heads, 24, which are designed for entering, at least partly, the corresponding apertures provided to this effect in the body of the shaver.
This mode of fixation makes it possible to ensure the locking of the removable head described and to replace it or to remove it easily without using any tool.
The movable blades 1 and 2 are displaced alternately along the direction of the arrow f1, by driving elements, not shown, which, for instance, may be those commonly used in known electric shavers.
The invention is not limited to the form of embodiment shown and described in detail, as various modifications may be made thereto, within the scope of the appended claims.

ing lateral notches of large area, a part connecting the fixed combs and going freely through the notches in allowing the displacement of said blades with respect to the combs, a resilient element located between the blades so that it bears underneath said connecting part of the combs and on the abutment members carried by the blades and means for latching said removable head upon the body of the shaver.
2. A removable head, particularly for an electric shaver, comprising two fixed combs rigidly connected in spaced relation, said combs offering upper rounded parts provided with teeth, two movable blades slidably connected together in spaced relation and located between the two fixed combs with respect to which they can be reciprocated, said blades offering upper rounded parts bearing against the top of said combs, abutment members carried by the blades, said blades having lateral notches of large area, a part secured to each one of the fixed combs and going freely through the notches of the blades in allowing the displacement of said blades with respect to the combs, an elastic strip with curved ends arranged to bear underneath the part secured to said fixed combs and on the abutment members carried by the blades, cages arranged between the lower parts of each one of the fixed combs, springs working in compression arranged in the cages and elements with spherical heads pushed by said springs, said elements being capable of passing partly at least through holes of the cages.
3. A removable head, particularly for an electric shaver, comprising two fixed combs, connection means rigidly connecting said fixed combs together in spaced relation at their lower part, two curved blades located between the fixed combs above the connection means and slidably connected together in spaced relation, said blades bearing on the top of the fixed combs and offering near their side ends apertures and at their middle portion a notch of large area, axles arranged in the apertures of said blades, means preventing the disengagement of said axles from the apertures of said blades, rollers with sharp edged ribs mounted on said axles so that said ribs are located between the two blades, a roller of smaller diameter than the width of the notches of the blades carried by the fixed combs and going freely through said notches in allowing the displacement of said blades, said roller having a rib with a sharp edge between said two blades, an elastic strip bearing underneath the latter roller and on the ribs of each one of the rollers mounted on the axles engaged in the apertures of the blades and means for latching said removable head upon the body of a shaver.
4. A removable head, particularly for an electric shaver, comprising two fixed combs rigidly connected in spaced relation, two movable curved blades ofiering lateral holes, cylindrical elements having a smaller diameter than said holes so that said blades are slidably connected in spaced relation, members preventing the disengagement of said cylindrical elements from the holes of the blades, said blades having respectively two apertures in the shape of button holes, axles constituting abutment elements engaged in said latter holes, flanged plugs secured to each end of said axles to connect them with said blades, said blades having lateral notches of large area, a part connecting the fixed combs and going freely through the notches in allowing the displacement of said blades with respect to the combs, a resilient element located between the blades so that it bears underneath said connecting part of the combs and on the axles engaged in the holes in the shape of button holes of the blades to squeeze said blades on the top of said combs and means for latching said removable head upon the body of a shaver.
5. A removable head, particularly for an electricshaver, comprising two fixed combs, connection means rigidly connecting said fixed combs together in spaced relation at their lower part, two curved blades located between the fixed combs above the connection means and slidably connected together in spaced relation, said blades bearing on the top of said fixed combs and offering at their middle portion a notch of large area and on both sides of this notch button hole shaped apertures, axles passed through apertures of said blades, flanged plugs associated with the ends of said axles for preventing them from moving out of the bottom but capable of passing through the wider portion of this button hole shaped apertures, said axles ofiering between the two blades a portion with larger diameter which cannot pass through the button hole shaped apertures, a sharp edged rib formed at the middle part of this larger diameter portion, a fixed axle secured to the fixed combs and going through the notches of the blades, an elastic strip bearing at its middle portion underneath said latter axle and offering bent ends the concavity of which is directed toward the sharp edged ribs of the axle passing through the button hole shaped apertures to push downwardly said axle and squeeze said blades on the top of the fixed combs, cages arranged between the lower part of each one of the fixed combs, springs working in compression arranged in said cages and elements with spherical heads pushed by the springs, said elements being capable of passing partly at least through holes of the opposite cages for the fixation of said removable head.
