Description

(No Model.) E. DURLAGH.
TOY STOVE.
No. 272,664. Patented Peb.'20, 1883.
To all whom it may concern UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TOY STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 272,664, dated February 20, 1883.
Application filed July 27, [882. (Nb model.)
Be it known that I, ELIAS DURLACH, acitizen of the United States of North America, and a resident of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toy Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
In the construction ot'tin toy stoves, the opening for the grate or fire plate is ordinarily made by cutting out and removing a piece of the metal ot the dimensions ot'the openingfrom the stove-front; and a grateis then made ofa piece of tin larger than said opening, cut and bentin proper shape, and soldered by its upper edge on the inside of the stove-front. This method or form of construction is, however, faulty, because involving an unnecessary waste of metal and solder and increased labor. and because the grate quickly becomes detached in use.
The object of my invention is to avoid these objectionable features; and it consists of a grate forming an integral portion of the stove itself.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings. forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is a front elevation of a toy stove showing my invention. Fig. 2 is a reduced perspective view of a stove-front, showing my invention in reverse. Fig.3 is an enlarged section on line x a, Fig. 2.
In-the drawings, Arepresentsa tin toy stove,
and A the front thereof.
To fotm the grate B two vertical parallel cuts, aa,and a horizontal connecting-cut, b, are made in the central portion of the front A. Then the grate-bars care formed in said partly cut-away central portion by cutting out and removing alternate vertieal strips, leaving the spaces 01 alternating with the bars c,.whicl| latter ate connected at their lower ends by a strip, f, that is also permitted to remain. Then the lower part of the central portion of the from; A is bent upward and inward, as shown, thus forming a grate, B, which is attached along its upper edge to the stove-front A, and forms an integral portion thereof.
Having thus described my invention, I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A toy-stove grate constructed substantially as herein shown and described, and forming an integral portion of the stove, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this 19th day'of July, 1582.
