Specification of Letters Patent No. 2,719, dated'SIuIy 16, 1842.

To all wiiom it may concern:

Be it. known that I, DAVID BILL DICKIN- soN, of the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented a new anduseful Portable Rotary Refrigerator and Protector of Meats, &c., Against Ants and other Vermin; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings of the same, making part of this specification.

Figure 1 is a vertical section through the center of the refrigerator.

The nature of my invention consists inconstructing a circular cylinder A in the shape of a barrel or hogshead or other shape, with a fiat or oval top, with one or more doors B, for the purpose of placing and removing articles to be preserved. The

The shoulder for the support of the cylinder may however be formed in any convenient mode. The shelves are horizontal and are attached to the shaft in any convenient manner, either by horizontal ,arms or pins Q inserted through the shaft directly under the shelves and on which they rest or by Washers or plates or flanges, or by any suit a le means, the perforation. for the shaft being in the center of such 'size that the shelves may be easily taken from the shaft to be cleaned. They may be roun oval square or of other shape.

The hooks I on which articles are suspended for preservation may-he attached to the shaft or arms on which the shelves restor other convenient place' so that they may be easily removed for the purpose of being cleaned.

The openings for the doors of the cylinder may be covered with gauze or other reticulated substance to admit air and at the same time exclude vermin while the doors are left open.

The cylinder and shelves constructed as above described maybe. easily separated from the shaftfor the purpose of being cleansed and when cleansed may be replaced in a few moments.

' The advantages possessed by the before described portable revolving refrigerator and safe over those of the ordinary construction are numerous.

The shelves may be turned instead of the cylinder, if preferred,'to have access to the articles thereon;

What I claim as my invention and which I desire to secure by Letters Patent is- Constructing the combined refrigerator and safe so as to revolve on a fixed vertical shaft for obtaining ready access to the articles placed therein for preservation and for the purpose of ventilating the same and likewise so that the several parts may be readily separated from the shaft to be cleansed and put together with facility in the manner hereinbefore described and set forth.
