STENCIL-RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 28, 1913.
Patented July '7, 1914. Serial No. 781,520.
To all whom it may concern Be it .known that I, JOHN F. CiunisoN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Des Moines, county of Polk, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful linprovement in Stencil-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a stencil rack of simple, strong, durable and inexpensive construction, which will be easily accessible in the shipping room for quickly locating the stencil bearing the name of the town, 01' the like, which it is desired to use.
My invention consists of certain details of construction hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure I shows a perspective view of my device. Fig. II shows a plan view of the same, the cover being removed; Fig. III shows an inverted plan view of the drum I employ; Fig. IV shows a detail view of the stencil receptacles and blank spaces for names, which I use; and Fig. V shows a detail view of one of the roller standards which I use.
Referring to the accompanying drawings the reference numeral is used to indicate th drum I employ, which is constructed of a plurality of trays, over above the other, and all solidly joined together, each tray having a plurality of openings 11 and of solid places 12, arranged alternately around its circumference, the center 13 of the tray being solid. The base of each tray is solid and each opening is from the upper surface to the solid base, the sides of the opening being parallel. Obviously as the sides of the openings are parallel and the tray is circular in conformation, the solid places between the openings must be V shaped, or triangular in conformation, as shown. The outer face 14 of the solid places 12 is closed, or solid, as shown so that on same may be painted the name of the town, or the like, the stencils for which are stored in the open space below. Each alternate tray is oil-set in building my drum, the purpose of same being to cause an open space and a closed place to alternate vertically so that the name of the stencils may be painted above their receptacle. As the drum is composed of a number of trays and is therefore very large and heavy, when filled with stencils, it is necessary to provide proper support for the drum. It is also necessary to provide for revolving the drum, for convenience in operating. I therefore mount my drum on a pedestal 15, on which it is designed to revolve, and I provide a circular track 16 in. the lower surface of the drum.
The numerals 17 indicate a lurality of stamlards, of equal size, having mounted in their upper extremities a Wheel 18, said wheels being designed to engage the circular track, and obviously form a support for the drum and cause the revolving thereof to be made easier.
Having thus described my invci'ition what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A stencil rack comprising in combination a drum formed of a plurality of circular trays, one above the other, each tray being provided with closed places and openings alternating around its perimeter, each alternate tray being off-set, to cause the openings and closed places to alternate i 'ertically, all of said openings havin parallel sides; a standard to support Salt drum which is rotatably mounted thereon; a circular track in the base of said drum and standards provided with rollers to engage said track, substantially as shown and described.
