It is well known that when steam pressing machines are used on garments of certain materials, a shine results on the material. One method of curing such defect was to place a screen on the garment as it was pressed. One dilficulty with said procedure has been that after each pressing operation the screen had to be removed with a consequent loss of time and labor involved.
Attempts to prevent shine have also been made by securing the screen to the underside of the upper buck of the machine. Such technique proved unsatisfactory because the screen got too hot. Furthermore, this procedure gave a shine to the garment and also left the impression of the screen thereon.
An object, therefore, of this invention is to provide a screen device to remove shine which will be movably attached to the upper buck of a pressing machine and will still be separated from the bottom surface thereof.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a screen device as hereinabove described, which will fit between the upper and lower bucks of the pressing machine, conform to the shape of the latter during the pressing operation, and spring back to a position between the two bucks, when the pressing operation is completed.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a screen mounted within a frame that is longer and wider than either the top or lower buck of the pressing machine, the said frame having vertical supports attached thereto, and means interconnecting said supports and attached to the top surface of the upper buck. This provides a screen device which is spatially away from the lower surface of the upper buck and will remove the shine from pressed garments without leaving any screen marks on the garment.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a screen device as heretofore described, wherein the screen is mounted in the frame by means of coil tension springs. Such screen being resiliently mounted will spring into place when the pressing operation is completed, thus leaving the garment without the outline of the pockets thereof imprinted on the outside of the garment.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination of elements, and arrangement of parts, which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of Which the scope of invention will be indicated in the following claims.

Referring now in detail to the drawings, 16 designates a frame embodying the invention. The same comprises a front strip of metal 11, a rear strip of metal 12, and end strips of metal 13 and 14 interconnecting said front and rear strips of metal 11 and 12 and forming right angles therewith to form a rectangular shaped figure. Strips 11, 12, 13 and 14 are of equal thickness and width. Said end strip 14 has two holes 15 and 16 therethrough equally spaced from each end thereof. Said strip 13 has two holes 17 and 18 therethrough distant from the ends thereof, and a hole 21 therethrough at the mid-point of strip 12. Said front strip 11 has two holes 22 and 23 therethrough spaced equidistant from the ends thereof, and hole 24 therethrough in the center of strip 11.
Placed inside the rectangularly shaped frame 13 is a rectangularly shaped screen 25. Said screen 25 is bent under itself along its outer edges as at 26, and thus forming reinforced corners as at 27.
At the respective corners of said screen 25 so reinforced as at 27, are through holes 28, 29, 39 and 31. Near the midpoints of the respective longer edges of said rectangular shaped screen 25 are through holes 32 and 33.

interconnecting end strip 14 and screen 25 are coil tension spring 42 engaged in holes 15 and 30 of their respective members and coil tension spring 43 engaged in holes 16 and 31 of their respective members. Coil tension springs 35, 36, 37, 33, 39, 49, d1, 42, 43 are of equal initial length.
It is thus seen that the screen member 25 is suspended by springs in the center of frame 10 and at the corners thereof equidistant from the component strips thereof.
Riveted to the outside of the front strip 11 of frame 15 and equidistant from the ends thereof are vertical, upwardly extending flanges 44 and 45. Riveted to the outside of the rear strip 12 of frame 11) and equidistant from the ends thereof are vertical upwardly extending flanges 46 and 47. Vertical flanges 45 and 46 lie in a plane parallel to that of vertical flanges 44 and 47. At the top of each of said flanges 44, d5, 45 and 47 there is a vertical tier of aligned through holes 48 for the purposes hereinafter explained.
Parallel members 49 are detachably mounted respectively between said vertical flanges 45 and 46, and between said vertical flanges 44 and 47. Said members 49 are each comprised of a horizontal bar 56, and vertical upwardly extending flanges 51 and 52 at each end thereof. In flange 51 there is a through hole 53 and in flange 52 there is a through hole 54.
Each of said members 49 are connected along their respective horizontal bar to the upper surface of the upper buck 55 of a conventional steam pressing machine as at 56 and 57.

Bolts 58 having threaded ends are inserted through the openings so aligned, and winged nuts 59 are screwed onto the threaded end of said bolts 58. This then secures the frame 10 and screen 25 mounted therein to the upper buck 55 of the steam pressing machine.
It is thus seen that frame 10 can be initially spaced at varying intervals from the top buck 55 of a steam pressing machine by aligning the flange holes 53 and 54 of member 49 with different parallel sets of holes in tiers 48 of the vertical posts and so securing the same there.
When the top buck of the steam pressing machine is brought to down position as in the dotted lines of Fig. 3, it is seen that the screen 25 comes between upper buck 55 and lower buck 60, and conforms to the. shape thereof. It is' also seen that frame 10 is both wider and longer than either the upper buck 55 or lower buck 6% of the pressing machine.
It will thus be seen that there'is thus provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described my invention 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In combination, a pressing machine comprising an upper buck movable down toward a lower buck, a frame, a screen means to resiliently attach said screen to said frame, and means for fixedly supporting the frame in spaced relation below the underside of the upper buck of the pressing machine, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions. 7
2. in combination with the upper buck of a steam pressing machine, a frame, a wire mesh screen in the a plane of said frame, the outer edges of the screen spaced inwardly of the frame, coil tension springs interconnecting said screen to the frame, members fixed to the frame and extending upwardly therefrom, and means to attach said members to the top of the upper buck with said frame and said screen disposed below and in spaced relation with respect to the underside of said upper buck, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
3. In combination, a frame, a wire mesh screen within said frame and spaced therefrom, springs interconnecting b said screen to the frame, vertical supporting bars fixed to the frame and extending upwardly therefrom, an upper buck of a steam pressing machine, and means interconnecting the upper ends of said vertical supporting bars to said upper buck, with said frame spaced below the underside of said upper buck, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
4. The combination of claim 3, said means to attach said vertical supporting bars to said upper buck, including means to fix said frame in various vertically adjusted positions to said upper buck.
5. The combination of claim 4 said frame comprising strips of metallic material formed into a polygonal shape, said vertical supporting bars comprising vertical strips secured to opposite frame strips, said vertical strips each having a row of through openings near its upper end to receive fastener means for attaching said frame a to said upper buck in adjusted position.
6. A device comprising a rectangular frame of two long sides and two shorter sides, a rectangular screen 4 of similar shape, mounted within said frame and being equidistant from the frame sides, four vertical posts secured to said frame, two of said posts riveted to one side of said frame and two of said posts riveted to the opposite side of said frame, and means to interconnect 1 one post on each side of the frame with its corresponding post on the opposite side of said frame, said screen comprising a fine mesh screen, doubled at its edges and having its corners formed of two such doubled, overlapped edges, a through hole in each corner of said screen, and a through hole at the mid portion of the long edges of said screen, said longer sides of said frame having through holes near their ends, and through holes at their mid-points, said shorter sides of said frame having through holes near their ends, said holes in the frame sides corresponding in position with those on said screen, said screen being mounted in said frame by means of springs, each spring having one end engaged in one of the aforesaid holes in the frame and its other end engaged in the opposite hole, as aforesaid, in the screen,
and each aforesaid corner through hole of the screen being opposite to a hole on the longer side, and a hole in the shorter side of said frame having two 'of said springs engaged therein.
7. A device comprising a rectangular frame of two long sides and two shorter sides, a rectangular screen of similar shape, mounted within said frame and being equidistant from the frame sides, four vertical posts secured to said frame, two of said posts riveted to one side of said frame and two of said posts riveted to the opposite side of said frame, and means to interconnect one post on each side of the frame with its corresponding post on the opposite side of said frame, said screen comprising a fine mesh screen, doubled at its edges and having its corners formed of two such doubled, overlapped edges, a through hole in each corner of said screen, and a through hole at the mid portion of the long edges of said screen, said longer sides of said frame having through holes near their ends, and through holes at their mid-points, said shorter sides of said frame having through holes near their ends, said holes in the frame sides corresponding in position with those on said screen, said screen being mounted in said frame by means of springs, each spring having one end engaged in one of the aforesaid holes in the frame and its other end engaged in the opposite hole, as aforesaid, in the screen, and each aforesaid corner through hole of the screen being opposite to a hole on the longer side, and a hole in the shorter side of said frame having two of said springs engaged therein, and each of said vertical posts riveted to the outside of said frame extending upwardly said transverse bar, each of" said means to interconnect said posts having the holes in each of its end flanges aligned with a corresponding set of holes, as aforesaid, through opposite vertical posts, said interconnecting means being secured to said posts by means of 'a bolt having a threaded end in said aligned hole in each flange and post, and having a wing nut placed on its threaded end. a
8. The combination of claim 7, and saidtransverse bars of the said interconnecting means havingmeans thereon to secure them to the top surface of the top buck of a steam pressing machine having a top and bot tom buck, and said spring mounted screen bending and conforming to the shape of said bottom buck during the pressing operation, and flexing back to its original shape after the pressing operation, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
9. In combination with a steam pressing machine, having an upper buck and a lower buck, a frame, a screen resiliently attached thereto, and means to fixedly attach said frame to the said upper buck of the said pressing machine with the screen spaced from the lower surface of said upper buck, and said frame comprising strips of metal which form a figure that is longer and wider than said upper buck, and said screen mounted in the said frame strips by means of coil tension springs, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
10. In combination with a steam pressing machine, having an upper buck and a lower buck, a frame, a screen mounted therein, and means to fixedly attach said frame to the said upper buck of the said pressing machine with the screen spaced from the lower surface of said upper buck, and said frame comprising strips metal which form a figure that is longer and wider than said upper buck, and said screen mounted in the said frame strips by means of coil tension springs, and said frame strips having vertical upwardly extending strips riveted thereto, and adjustable means interconnecting said upwardlyextending strips at their upper ends with the upper surface of said upper buck, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
11. In a pressing machine having an upper buck movable down to a lower buck the combination comprising, a frame, a screen, means for holding said screen resiliently within said frame, means to attach said frame to the upper buck in spaced relation below the underside of the upper buck of the pressing machine, said screen being of such area and so disposed within said frame as to extend outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
12. In a pressing machine the combination comprising a lower buck, an upper buck, said upper buck being movable downwardly against said lower buck, a screen, a polygonal frame, means resiliently holding said screen stretched within said frame, and mechanism for holding the frame in spaced relation below the underside of said upper buck of said pressing machine, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
13. In a pressing machine the combination comprising a lower buck, an upper buck, said upper buck being movable downwardly against said lower buck, a screen, a polygonal frame, means resiliently holding said screen stretched within said frame, and mechanism surrounding said upper buck and supported thereby for holding the frame in spaced relation below the underside of said upper buck of said pressing machine, said screen extending outwardly beyond said upper buck in all directions.
