This invention relates to an improvement of a variable spray nozzle with the following mechanism: The casing is connected to the end of the pipe. The base of the narrow portion of the said casing is equipped with the divided holes geared with the male screw at the lower outside of the said casing. Thus the branch stream straight shooting casing is made to move back and forth by gyration. The inside surface of the upper end of the said branch straight shooting casing and the outside surface of the narrow portion of casing are made to form the straight shooting jet. The spray cover is screwed With the female screw which is provided on the inside of the narrow portion of the casing. The water supplying holes are provided at the middle side of spray cover. The guide fiange is fittcd at the upper end of the spray cover. The shallow groove is provided at the top of the guide fiange. By fitting the end of driver in this shallow groove and turning it, the space between the lower surface of the spray flange and the upper surface of the narrow portion of the casing may be widened or narrowed.
It is accordingly an object of my present invention to give a perfect Spraying action, with free and proper adjustment according to the different pressure of various motive powers of fire-fighting pumps, and pumps used in other various purposes.
The drawing is a vertical view of the variable spray nczzle of this invention, with its righthand half cut vertically through and a portion of its upper end cut away.
This invention relates to an improvement of a variable spray nozzle with the following mechanism. The casing 2 is connected to the end of pipe i. The spray jet 3 is provided at the upper end of the said casing 2. The base of the narrow portion li of the said casing 2 is equipped with the divided water supplying holes 5, 5 geared with the male screw 6 at the lower outside of the said casing 2. Thus the branch stream straight shooting casing 'i is made to move back and forth by gyration. The inside of the upper end of the said branch stream straight shooting casing 'i and the outside surface of the narrow portion i of casing 2 are made to form the straight shooting jet t. The spray cover 9 is screwed with the female screw 4' which is provided on the inside of the narrow portion E of the casing 2. The water supplying holes iii, HJ are provided at the middle side of the spray cover *9. The guide flange ll is fitted at the upper end of the spray cover 9. The shallow groove H' is provided at the top of the guide flange ll. By fitting the end of driver in this shallow groove Il' and turning it, the space between the lower surface of the guide fiange H and the upper surface of the narrow portion 4 of the casing 2 may be widened or narrowed.
Because of the above described mechanism of this variable spray nozzle, the water under pressure coming from the pipe I is divided by the divided holes 5, 5 provided at the base of the narrow portion Li of the casing 2, passes through the inside of the branch stream straight shooting casing l, and is jetted straight through the straight shooting jet 8. At the same time, the main stream j etted from the spray jet 3 through the water supplying holes lt, ic of the spray cover 9 screwed at the inside surface of the narrow portion Ei of the casing 2 collides with the aforesaid straight shooting branch stream, producing sprinkled spray. The angle of sprinkling can be gradually narrowed by turning branch stream straight shooting casing 'I against the casing 2 and advancing it, and the space of the spray jet 3 can be widened or narrowed by turning the spray cover 9, thereby adjusting the amount of water and force of the main stream jetted from the spray jet 3 through the water supplying holes IU, to of the spray cover 9, and consequently making as effective and strong as possible the colliding and sprinkling action of the main stream against the straight shooting branch stream. Thus the variable spray nozzle of this invention can give a perfect spraying action, with free and proper adjustment according to the different pressures of various motive powers of fire-fighting pumps, and pumps used in farms and orchards for fire-fighting or spraying insecticides and fertilizer, and other pumps. This is indeed a very useful invention.
I claim as my invention:
