Description

April 20, 1954 M. L. PERONTO GARMENT Filed Aug. 4, 1952 INVENTOR. MILDRED L PERONTO Patented Apr. 20, 1954 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE GARMENT Mildred Louise Peronto, Tacoma, Wash.
Application August 4, 1952, Serial No. 302,499
1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to improvements in garments and is particularly adapted to shirts, womens blouses, children's garments and so forth.
The primary object of the invention is to open the garment through the inner side seams of the sleeves and outer side seams of the body portion so that the same can be laid out flat for ironing.
Being able to open the garment up into a single fiat piece is particularly desirable Where the sleeves are gathered into a cufi. By opening the garment up into one piece, the same can be shaped over the end of the ironing board so that i can be neatly and easily ironed.
These and other incidental objects will be apparent in the drawings, specification and claim.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front view of a lady's blouse, one side of the same having been opened from the bottom of the blouse to the tip of the sleeve.
Figure 2 illustrates the blouse having been completely opened into a single flat piece ready for ironing.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view of a tip of an ironing board, illustrating how the garment can he fitted over the end of the same in the ironing operation.
Referring more specifically to the drawings:
A womans blouse is indicated by numeral I, having the usual body 2 with the sleeves 3 and 4. The blouse consists of a front 5 and a back 6, with the sleeves 3 and 4. The front and back are secured together along their edges by the zipper fasteners l and 8. These fasteners continue from the bottom of the blouse up the outer side of the body of the blouse and along the inner side of the sleeves to their cufis 9.
While I have illustrated a womans blouse, this system is adaptable to many other types of garments, as for instance men's and boys shirts, childrens dresses and so forth.
I will now explain how the garment is handled for ironing. The zipper fastener opener tabs ID are manipulated in the well known fashion, opening both of the zippers l and 8 from the body of the garment up through the sleeves to the cufls, allowing the same to be laid out as illustrated in Figure 2. The garment is then placed over the ironing board, as illustrated in Figure 3 for ironing.
When the ironing is completed, the zipper can be rethreaded in the usual manner and closed. The garment will then be ready for wear in the usual manner.
What I claim is:
A blank piece of flexible material for forming a blouse, comprising a central longitudinal portion to form a back, shoulder and front of a blouse, oppositely disposed portions extending at substantially right angles from the longitudinal edges of the central longitudinal portion to form sleeves of the blouse, the side edges of the central longitudinal portions and the upper and lower edges of the horizontal portions being curved and merging together, the longitudinal portion of the blank having a centrally disposed opening, the longitudinal portion forming the front being split from its free end to the opening, whereby when the longitudinal portion and the horizontal portions are centrally folded until their respective edges meet a blouse can be formed, and means for closing the meeting edges of the longitudinal and horizontal edge portions between the bottom free edges of the front and rear portions and under the arm portions.
