My invention relates to a cleansing container and relates particularly to a container having a plurality of compartments one of which contains a liquid for rinsing and the other contains a liquid detergent wherein a portion of each of said liquids is exposed by a cover and the remainder is concealed.
Heretofore, mops to clean floors and walls have been used and invariably a bucket containing water or a liquid detergent has been used and when an excessive amount of liquid was placed upon the mop as by dipping the mop entirely within the liquid and withdrawing the soaked mop then the user would wipe the mop on the side of the bucket or a small catch for the mop would be hung on the side of the bucket and the mop would be wiped upon the catch to remove the excessive liquid. However, the catch for the mop would be suspended in a fashion to enable the bucket to be tilted. This requiresskill in using the catch to remove the excessive liquid from the mop, otherwise the bucket may be tilted.
Therefore, it is an object of my invention to provide a container for a plurality of different liquids wherein a mop may be wiped on said container by pressing downwardly either vertically or at an angle upon said container without tilting the container.
Another object of my invention is to provide a container for a plurality of different liquids wherein the perforated cover exposes only a portion of the liquid in each of the container compartments.
Another object of my invention is to provide a handle for a container having a plurality of different liquid compartments wherein the container will be symmetrically loaded even though the contents of the liquids in their compartments are not of the same weight.
Another object of my invention is to provide a container for liquids having a plurality of different compartments, and a perforated cover for the top of said container which has different horizontal levels.
Another object of my invention is to provide a cover for a combination liquid container which will readily hold the cleansing or wiping sponge or brush.
Other objects of my invention are to provide an improved device of the character described. that is easily and economically produced, which is sturdy in construction, and which is highly eflicient in operation.
With the above and related objects in view, my
invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts, as will be more fully understood from the following description, when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan View of a container for retaining a plurality of different liquids, wherein my invention is embodied.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the container as viewed along the lines 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is an end view of the container as viewed along the lines 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line 3-4 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken along the line 55 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a side view of a modification of my invention.
Fig. 7 is an end view of the modification of my invention.
Fig. 8 is a top view of the modification of my invention.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view taken through the longitudinal axis of Fig. 8.
Fig. 10 is a transverse section view taken across Fi 8.
Referring now in greater detail to my invention wherein similar reference characters refer to similar parts I show a rectangular metal container, generally designated as A, having longitudinal sides l2, l4 and transverse sides l6, I8 which join the longitudinal sides to form a continuous wall. A bottom 20 joins the lowermost edges of the wall thereby creating a container for a liquid or liquids. A metal or synthetic plastic partition 22 joins the longitudinal sides l2, l4 midway between the transverse walls l6 and [8, thereby dividing the container A into two compartments Al and A2 for the reception of a liquid detergent in one compartment and a rinsing liquid in the other compartment. Since it would be extremely difiicult to always have the identical weight of liquid in each compartment it is desirable to use a single handle 2| which will always balance the container even when liquid is therein.
A perforated plate, generally designated B, is adapted to lie within the container and to be spaced from the bottom 20. This plate B is a cover for the container. The perforated plate B has its center 24 indented to overlap the upper edges of the partition 22 and its end 26 rests upon a bracket 29 on the wall 116 and the other end 28 of the plate rests upon a bracket 30 on the wall I8. In other words, the perforated plate is supported in three places.
The perforated cover plate B is constructed to have its center 32 at one level and its ends at a lower level 34. The combined area of the levels 34 equal the area of the center 32.
Hence, the end 34 of the plate B is set at a level to be immersed within the liquid within the compartment but to prevent a brush from being totally immersed, as is the case with the prior art devices The center 32 is adapted to'be entirely spaced from any liquid within the compartment. This stepped arrangement of the cover plate l3 enables a brush to be dipped into the liquid to a limited extent as by placing it uponthe level 34 and then removing the excess liquid by present the brush upon the upper level 32 without causing any tilting of the container. No matterliow hard the brush is pressed upon the cover plate B the container cannot be tilted of bvaiimea.
When the user desires to change from one coin partment to another he may readily dip his brush into the selected compartment; Liquid will readily drip from the upper surface of the plate B through the perforations 34B.
The upper edge of-the center 32 of the plate B, within the compartment A2 has a flange 36 so that a cleansing and washing brush may be placed therein for carrying purposes.

The purpose of this movable plate Cl is to enable a mop to be pressed deeplyinto;the detergent. The other stepped perforated plate C2 is partially immersed withintherinsing-liquid.

I claim as my invention:
1. A container for liquids including a plurality of compartments, each compartment having a perroratedebver plate \vitli'at least two levels, one of said cdver plates being adapted to be pivoted to one side of the container, and a spring adapted to retain the other end of said one plate :in its level position.
2: A container for liquids comprising a partition in said container for creating a plurality fibiripa'rtirients therein, one compartment having ayperforated cover plate overhanging said partition and an edge of said container, a seccilid sever plate overlying a second compartment, said second plate overhanging and pivoting about a portion-of said container and having its free edge'adjacent said partition, and a spring having-one en'd connected to the free edge of said second plate and theother end of the spring connect'ed-atljacent-the top of said partition to keep said second plate normally horizontal.
3. The invention of claim 2 wherein "the upper end of said spring-is connectedto said first plate.
