1 Claim.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in toys, and th principal object of the invention is to provide a toy horse which is simple in construction, pleasing in appearance, sturdy and durable, and which will readily lend itself to economical manufacture.
With the above more important object and features in view and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a side elevational view of the invention, partially broken away so as to reveal its construction,
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially in the plane of the line 2-2 in Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the invention, and
Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional detail, taken substantially in the plane of the line 4-4 in Figure 1.
Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in th specification and throughout the several views.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the invention consists of a toy horse which is designated generally by the reference character l and embodies in its construction front and rear tubular leg members l2, l4, each having an inverted, substantially U-shaped configuration and including an arcuate bight portion l6 and a pair of divergent, downwardly extending limbs l8.
Lower end portions of the limbs l8 may be provided with anti-skid elements or feet of rubber, or the like, and the two leg members l2, l4 are rigidly secured together by a pair of side members 22 which extend longitudinally between the respective limbs at the opposite sides of the leg members, being suitably secured thereto as at 24.
An elongated, transversely arcuate body forming panel 26 is secured by suitable screws or rivets 28 to the bight portions l6 of the leg members l2, l4 and extends downwardly on the limbs 18 to a plan below the side members 22, so that the latter are covered thereby. The body forming panel ,26 is open at the front and rear ends thereof, but
suitable covering material 30 is secured to the body forming panel and includes front and rear end portions 32, 34 which extend over the respective front and rear ends of the body forming panel, as is best illustrated in Figure l.
A convenient saddle 36 is mounted on the covering material 30 of the body forming panel 26, while a pair of stirrups 38 depend from inter- 2 mediate portions of the respective side members 22, substantially as shown.
A head 40 is provided on the front end portion of the body forming panel 26 and a bridle bit 42 extends transversely through the mouth portion of the head, being provided at the ends thereof with a pair of rings 44 for connection of conventional clasps 46 provided at the ends of a bridle strap 48.
An inverted, substantially U-shaped hand rail 50 includes a bight portion 52 which extends transversely through the head 40, while the downwardly divergent side portions 54 of the hand rail are disposed substantially in the plane of the front leg member I2 but are spaced outwardly therefrom as is best shown in Figure 2, so that they may be conveniently grasped by the rider. The hand rail portions 54 are offset inwardly at their lower ends as indicated at 56 and are ri idly secured to the limbs l8 of the front leg member [2 by fastening elements 58 which extend through the cover 30 and the panel 26 and also serve to secure the members 22 to the member l2.
Finally, it is to be noted that a suitable tail 60 may be affixed as at 62 to the rear end portion 34 of the covering material 30, as illustrated in Figure 1.
It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing and accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new 1s:
In a toy horse, the combination of front and rear leg members each having an inverted substantially U-shaped configuration and including an arcuate bight portion and a pair of divergent downwardly extending limbs, a pair of rodshaped side members extending longitudinally between and securing together the respective limbs at the opposite sides of said leg members, an elongated and transversely arcuate body forming panel secured to the bight portions of said leg members and extending downwardly on said limbs to a plane below said side members, covering material provided on said body forming panel, a head mounted on the front end portion of said body forming panel, and an inverted substantially U-shaped hand rail secured at the lower ends thereof to the limbs of the front leg member and including a bight portion extending transversely through said head.
