This invention relates to a novel construction of container, receptacle or box for projection slides and has for its primary object to provide a container which may be employed eiciently in the dark or semidarkness for removing projection slides therefrom in series and for returning the projection slides to the container so that the slides will remain in proper series.
More particularly, it is an aim of the present lo invention to provide a novel construction of container and separator whereby .a relatively wide gap will be maintained in a series of slides between the slides of the series which have been projected and those remaining to be projected so that the operator will Ihave no diiculty in locating in the darkness the next slide to be removed from the container and likewise no difficulty in correctly returning the used slide to the container so that the slide will resume its proper sequence in its proper series.
Another object of the invention is to provide a slide container having separating means Vof extremely simple construction which will move automatically from end-to-end of the container as the slides are removed therefrom and replaced therein and as the number of used slides increases and the number of slides still to be projected decreases.
A further object of the invention is to provide a container of extremely simple construction which may be very economically manufactured and sold and which will afford a smooth interior surface permitting the slides to be applied and removed with ease and without danger of damage thereto.
Numerous other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter become more fully apparent from the following description of the drawing, illustrating a presently preferred embodiment thereof, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a plan View of the slide container;
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof taken substantially along a plane as indicated by the line 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the container with the slides and other parts removed therefrom;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the adjustable stop or follower, and
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the separator.
Referring more specifically to the drawing, the novel slide container constituting the invention is designated generally 1 and includes a rectangular open top box or receptacle, designated generally 8 which may be of any desired length. The end walls 9 and I0 of the receptacle 8 are identical in con-struction and are each provided with a downwardly and inwardly inclined inner face or surface II. The receptacle 8 is shown as being provided with a centrally disposed longitudinally extending partition I2 which is equally spaced from opposite sides thereof and the ends of which are anchored in grooves I3 formed in the surfaces I I of the end walls 9 and I0 whereby the receptacle or box 8 is divided into two corresponding compartments I4 and I5 each of which extends from end-to-end thereof and has correspending inclined end surfaces Il. The compartments I4 and I5 are each of a width to conn veniently accommodate projection slides I8 of a4 conventional width and may obviously vary inn width to accommodate different conventional As previously stated, the `box or receptacle 8 may be of any desired, length and accordingly the compartments I4 and, I5 may likewise be of any desired length. The depths of the compartments I4 and I 5 aref preferably less than the height of a slide I6 from. the bottom to the top edges thereof so that even when the slides I6 are in normal, inclined positions, .as seen in Figure 2, the upper edges of the slides will preferably project above the level of the open top of the receptacle 8.
One or more series of slides I6 may be stored in each compartment I4 and I5 or all slides of a series may iill a compartment I4 or I5. Where slides of more than one series are contained in a compartment, indicator cards are employed between the series of slides, as illustrated at I1, the indicator cards each being preferably of the same width as the slides but of a -greater height so that the upper portion of the indicator cards will extendabove the upper edges of the slides. rIhe y exposed upper portions of the indicator cards may be provided with suitable indicia designating or descriptive of the series of slides behind or in front of which it is disposed.
Where there are an insuicient number of slides I6 to ll a compartment, an adjustable stop, designated generally I8, is employed in such compartment between the slides I6 thereof and the end w-all I0, assuming that the end Wall 9 is employed as the front wall of the box. The stop I8 may be ofV any suitable construction so long as it is provided with an inclined wall surface I9 which is disposed at approximately the same angle f asy the 'surfaces I I and substantially 1 parallel tothevsurface II ofthe end-wall I0. :The 5 stop I8 is shown as being formed of sheet metal having substantially triangular shaped end walls 20 the bottom edges of which are disposed in the same plane as the bottom edge of the inclined wall I9 so that said bottom edges rest upon the 5 bottom 2| of the compartment in which the stop I8 is disposed. It will likewise be apparent that additional indicator cards II may be inserted so that selected slides of other series may be readily located to be shown in connection with a series of slides of a diierent series.
Various modications and changes are contemplated and may obviously be resorted to, without departing from the-` spiritor Iscope of the invention as hereinafter defined by the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:

Ac'ontainer for projection slides or the like comprising an-V elongated open top receptacle havingend walls provided with downwardly and inwardly'inclin'ed' inner surf-aces and a substantially flat: bottom extending between said end walls, a plurality of projection sli-des contained within l the. receptacle each disposed. transversely thereof;y said sldesresting on. edge on the bottom: andbeing supported ininclined' positions against oneor bothinclined end wall surfaces, anda rollerconstitutingaseparator of a length lesszthan the'width of the interior of-the receptacle disposedtherein transversely thereofand resting upon the receptacle bottom-,- the slides located. on-opposite sides ofsaid-rollerbeinginclined in-` opposite directions todene an upwardly diverging gap v betweenv the slides locatedadjacent to `andin contact with the roller whereby theslides on one side of thev rollermaybeconsecutively removed` from the receptacle and-- replaced'therein, after being projected, between-- the roller; and` the neXtadjacentI slide on the 0pposite'sideof the roller for'maintaining-the slides-- in sequence, said' roller rolling freely, along-the receptacle vbottom `ask the slidesl areremovedfromone side of the-roller and applied tothe-receptacle on the other sidefthereof.
