With reference to Fig. 1 of the drawings, the structure therein illustrated comprises a conventional tractor-type truck I for rendering the unit mobile, having a cab 2 Ymounted for swivel movement on a turret 3 of the tractor I. @Onno-ne end of the cab 2 is mounted a boom 4 which 1s pivoted at 5 and supported by a cable 6 connected to the boom 1, which cable passes overa pulley 8 to a winding drum in the cab 2, which is not shown 'and constitutesV no part of this invention. l n Y Mounted in the boom 4 is an endless conveyor 9 which carries the shafts I0 of drums II to which is secured a cable I2, a loose end of which is attached to a weight I3 that is designed to Strike an object I4 to crush the same. The conveyor 9 is driven by a motor or engine I5 in the cab by a conventional drive connection and, as shown by the dot and dash circular lines, the
weights pass through an opening at the botn manner shown in Fig. '1.

The structure is given stability by the use of ties 20, Fig. 2, and is of course not subjected to any great stress or loads other than the winding, lifting and transportation of the Weights from the bottom opening to the top opening of the'boom.
By means of the abo-ve describedV mechanism, a number of crushing weights, there being three shown for illustration only, may be utilized to greatly decrease the time ordinarily involved in the crushing of lobjects by means of dropping weights. It is evident from the foregoing description of the invention that skull crushing devices made in 'accordancetherewith may be of simple construction and of Asimple operation.
Although one embodiment of the invention has been herein illustrated and described, it will be evident to those skilled in the art that various modifications may be made in the details of construction without departing from the principles herein set forth.
I claim: v
1. In a skull Crusher, a boom comprising a plurality of side members, an endless conveyor chain mounted between said members, drums mounted for rotation on said conveyor chain, gear racks disposed below the upper strand of said conveyor chain in the path of movement of said chains and gear teeth on said drums interacting with the teeth of said rack whereby the drums revolve while being conveyed by the chains from one end to the other end of the boom, spring biased paWls for engaging the teeth of the drums to prevent rotation thereof in one direction, cables connected to said drums having Crusher weights at one end thereof, and means for driving the conveyor chain whereby the Crusher weights are lifted from the ground by rotation' of the drums and conveyed along the boom to the top thereof to fall by gravity on the article to be crushed.
2. In a skull Crusher, a boom having a plurality of endless conveyor chains mounted for rotation intermediate the ends thereof, drive v'means for said chains, a plurality of cable drums mounted between the chains to be conveyed thereby, gear racks disposed below the upper strand and in the path of movement of the chains, gear teeth on the drums for engaging the gear racks to be rotated while travelingwith the conveyor chain fromone end of the boom to theother, spring biased pawls for engaging the teeth of the drums to` prevent rotationV thereof in one direction, cables connected to said drums having Crusher weightsat one end thereof, and means for locking said cable drums againstv rotation in one direction after they have passed out of engagement with the teeth of the racks comprising a spring ratchet pawl for engaging the teeth of the drums.
3. In a skull Crusher for manipulating a plurality of crusher weights, a boom mounted for swivel movement on a support, a plurality of endless conveyor chains mounted in said boom, a gear rack disposed below the upper strand of said conveyor chain, cable drums journaled between the links of said chains having a tooth flange interacting with the teeth of the gear rack to revolverthe drums whiie passing from one end of the boom to the other, spring'biasedrpawls for engaging the teeth of the drums to prevent rotation thereof in'one direction, Cables secured to the drums having crusher weights connected at g the opposite end thereof and drive means for said chain, the boom having open spaces for the crusher weights at the respective ends thereof whereby the weights are lifted and drawn from below the boom to the upper strand of the conveyor chain while being wound on the conveyor drums as they travel to the opening at the upper end of the boom to vbe released for crushing action,` said conveyor chains having cross members for supporting the Crusher weights while being conveyed thereon.
