1 Claim.
This invention relates to an improved type of stretcher for soft woolen articles, such as babyr bootees, and preferably thosewhich are knitted.
An object of my invention is to provide an improved, simple and inexpensive bootee stretcher Which can be quickly and easily adjusted to difn ferent lengths, as required, to stretch bootees to the desired size.
Another object of my invention is to provide an improved bootee stretcher of the character stated, in which the heel section of the stretcher is adjustably mounted on a tongue which projects from the toe section of the stretcher, thus achieving an increase in the over all length of the stretcher.
A feature of my invention is to provide an improved bootee stretcher of the character stated, which can be easily moulded from an inexpensive material, such as plastic, and the like.
Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claim.
In the drawing:
Figure l is a side elevation of my bootee stretcher.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the same, in disassembled position.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of my bootee stretcher.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, my improved bootee stretcher -l is preferably vcast from a light and inexpensive material, such as certain of the plastics. a hollow toe section 2, which conforms generally in shape to the toe portion of an infants bootee. The toe portion 2 also includes a bottom lwall 3, a continuation of which forms a tongue 4, projecting rearwardly from the toe section. An elongated slot 5 is formed in the tongue 4 for the purposes of adjustment, as will be furtherv described.
The heel section 6 is also hollow, kconsisting generally of a bottom wall l which is provided with a rectangular recess 8, generally shaped to accurately t the contour of the tongue 4. The tongue 4 can slide in the recess 8 and is accurately The stretcherincludes' f 2 guided by the side edgesv of the recess, thus holding the toe section 2 rin correct alignment with the heel section 6.
A set screw 9 is threaded into the bottom wall 'l of the heel section (i,r and this set screw exposition. Thereafter, the set screw 9 is tightened,
and the over all length of the bootee stretcher will 'thus be set.
Having described my invention, I claimz` A baby bootee stretcher comprising a hollowjtoe section shaped to t the toe of a bootee, a bottom wall on said toe section, a tonguel projecting rearwardly from said bottom wall, a hollow heel section the top of said heel section being open, a bottom wall onsaid heel section, the last named bottom wall having a recess formed therein shaped to fit and receive said tongue the depth of said recess being equal tothe thickness of said tongue, said tongue having an elongated slot formed therein, a set screw threaded into the bottom wall vof the heel section, said set screw extending through said groove, and saidset screw bearing against the tongue to hold the tongue in adjusted position in said recess.
