My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a watch wrist' band intended for holding a Wrist Watch in position on the, wrist of the wearer. n

It is an object of the present invention to rproide a wrist band of this type Which Will be simple in structure, economical of manufacture, durable, pleasing in appearance and highly eiiicient in use.

Another object of the invention is a provision of a Wrist band of this type so arranged and constructed that it may be very easily released y:for

removal from the Wrist While at the same time,

after being placed upon the Wrist, it may be released for movement to observative position.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a Wrist band of this type in which the band will be held snug against the wrist of the wearer, While at the saine time being suiiiciently yieldable to avoid any discomfort without in any manner rendering it likely that the wrist band would fall ofi the Wrist.

It is recognized that various modications and changes in the detail of structure illustrated may be necessary and it is intended that the present disclosure shall be considered but the preferred embodiment oi the invention.

As shown in the drawings, the invention embodies a pair of rigid curved arms 8. These arms are duplicates oi each other and consequently are designated by the same indicating numeral and each arm is provided, at one of its ends, with an opening it through which may be projected a pin il extending through a flange or lug I2 on the Wrist Watch I3, so that the arms 8 will thus be swingably connected at one of their ends to the opposite ends of the Wrist Watch I3. Carried on the other end of the arms 8 is a collar hl having at its inner end an inwardly turned 4 Claims. (Cl. 224--4) flange or lug I5. This collar I4 is formed cup#l shaped and yhas at its outer end an opening 24, into which slidably projects a iiexible band Il. Carried "by this band IT is a collar I3, which is iixedly mounted thereon adjacent its inner end and which is provided with an outwardly projecting tongue I9. A sleeve or knuckle IS is formed on the inner end of the flexible member I'I and through this sleeve or lrnucklela is projected a pin Iba. A slot IGZ) is formed in the central part of the sleeve or knuckle and the end 20 of a coil spring 2I is positioned in this slot Iiib and hooked over the pin Ita. The opposite end 22 of this coil spring 2! is hooked over the pin I I. The

opposite' end of the iiexiblemember I7 is simi-k larly inserted intoone of kthe arms 8 and the construction and connection of each arm is the same. Covering each of the arms 8 is a covering 23 preferably formed from leathenor other suitable material, insofar as appearance and come fort on the Wrist are concerned. This coveringt may also be of plastic, if desired, but it is preferred that it be of some soft material slightly moisture absorbent.

It is customary when wearing a Wrist Watch to have the Watch positioned on the back of the Wrist. When the present invention is in use a portion of the member Il will be exposed, as these arms 8 do not meet. When the user desires to remove the Wrist watch it is but necessary to pull on the member Il, which will cause the inner end to move outwardly of the arm 8 in which positioned. This outward movement will be, of course, against the tension of the spring 2| and when the outward movement has proceeded so that the tongue I9 is positioned behind the lug I 5 a slight lifting of the flange will cause the tongue IS to engage behind the flange I5 and thus the Wrist band is locked in open position, so that it may be easily and quickly removed from the Wrist. W'hen again placed upon the Wrist the member Il is moved in the opposite direction so as to disengage the tongue I9 from behind the lug i5, whereupon the springs 2I will function to draw the Wrist band into close contact with the wrist. In this outward movement of the inner end of the member I1 the pin I 6a will engage against the front Wall 25 at opposite sides of the opening 24, so that pulling the member II completely outwardly from the hollow arm 8 is prevented.

In this Way I provided a wrist band which is very comfortable when Worn and which lends itself to ornamental decoration so that a pleasing appearance may be obtained. The removal and replacement of the wrist band is a simple and easy operation. Moreover, due to the construction of the wrist band, an economical structure has been arrived at.

What I claim is:

1. A wrist band of the class described adapted for use with a wrist watch, comprising: a pair of curved hollow arms, each of said arms being pivotally connectable at one of its ends to the opposite sides `of a wrist watch; a flexible member insertable at its opposite ends into the free ends of each of said arms; a spring in each of said arms connected at one end in iixed relation to the arm in which positioned and at its opposite ends to the inner end of said flexible member; an engagement member carried on the free end of at least one of said arms; an engagement member carried by said flexible member within the engagement carrying arm and engageable therewith for normally preventing the pulling of said end into said arm by said spring.

A wrist band of the class described adapted for use with a wrist watch, comprising: a pair of curved hollow arms, each of said arms being pivotally connectable at one of its ends to the opposite sides of a Wrist watch; a flexible member insertable at its opposite ends into the free ends of each of said arms; a spring in each of said arms connected at one end in xed relation to the arm in which positioned and at its opposite ends to the inner end of said flexible member; an engagement member carried on the free end of at least one of said arms; an engagement member carried by said flexible member within the engagement carrying arm and engageable therewith for normally preventing the pulling of said end into said arm by said spring; and a member carried by the inner end of said flexible member engageable with a member on said arm for preventing withdrawal of said flexible member from said arm.

A wrist band of the class described comprising: a pair of hollow arms, each adapted for swingable connection at one of its ends with a wrist watch with which used; a spring member positioned in each of said arms adjacent each of its swingable ends and in fixed relation thereto at one end; a flexible member inserted at its opposite ends into the free ends of said arms and connected to said spring, said spring normally tending to draw the ends of said flexible member inwardly of said arms; and inter-engaging means on the inserted end of said flexible member andthe free end of the arm into which inserted for, upon engagement, resisting inward movement of the inserted end of said ilexible member into said arm in response to the tension of said spring.

4; A wrist band of the class described comprising: a. pair of hollow arms, each adapted for swingable connection at one of its ends with a wrist watch with which used; a spring member positioned in each of said arms adjacent each of its swingable ends and in fixed relation thereto at one end; a flexible member inserted at its opposite ends into the free ends of said arms and connected to said spring, said spring normally tending to draw the ends of said ilexible member inwardly of said arms; and inter-engaging means on the inserted end of said flexible member and the free end of the arm into which inserted for, upon engagement, resisting inward movement of the inserted end of said flexible member into said arm in response to the tension of said spring; an abutment member on the free end of said ar-m and an engagement member carried by the inserted end of said flexible member for engaging said abutment member and preventing the pulling of said inserted end out of the arm into which inserted.
