Application filed May 13, 1882. (No model.)
1 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. S'roETzEL,
' of Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State ofNebraska, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Eaves Trough Hangers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention consists in a hanger of peculiar form, adapted for a roof ofany pitch, and shaped to prevent sagging of the trough, as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective View of my improved hanger as connected to a trough, A is the hanger supporting the trough B. The hanger A is a strip of metal, having its upper end bent at an angle to suit the pitch of the roof to which it is to be attached, and split at its lower end to form the two tongues a a,which are bent in opposite directions for taking upon the cross-bar b of the trough, to which bar the tongues a are riveted. The split end of the hanger, provided with the tongues, bent as dethe trough, so that it is retained in shape and prevented from sagging to'either side in case ice or dirt accumulates upon the trough.
This hanger is most durable and convenient for use, as well as inexpensive.
Having thus described. my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Paten t- The combination, with the plate 1;, arranged transversely across and secured to the eavestrough, of the hanger A, with its split or divided end provided with tongues a, extended in opposite directions and resting upon and seshown and described.
