The present invention relates to a transportable and easily adjustable supporting device for 'conveyers, which device makes it possible to use conveyors for such industrial purposes, for which conveyors could not be used hitherto.
The invention is generally characterized in that the supporting device comprises two longitudinal frames, which are arranged in cruciform and pivo'tably connected with each other between their ends, each of said frames on its one end being provided with a -pivotably mounted roller for the conveyer, a stand supporting the other ends of the frames and provided with ground-engaging supports, the other end of one of the frames being pivota-bly mounted and displaceable to and from the corresponding end of the other frame, which end is only pivotably mounted in the stand, and a lever, pivotably supported at its one end on the common turning shaft of the frames, said lever acting as a guide for a 'roller, adapted for tensioning the conveyor and pivotably mounted and displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the lever.
According to an embodiment of the invention that frame end, which is pivotably mounted and displaceable in the stand may be pivotably mounted on the one end of a screw, which cooperates with a nut only turnably mounted in the stand and adapted to be rotated by means of a hand-wheel or the like.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in side view on the accompanying drawing, whereby the device is shown in two different positions indicated by full and dotted lines respectively.
l designates a stand, which may consist of tubes or rods connected to a rectangular frame. On this stand two frames '2 and 3, for instance consisting of tubes or rods, are pivotably mounted on holders 4 and 5. The holder 4 is attached at the one end of a setting screw 6, cooperating -with a nut which is turnably but not displaceably mounted in :a holder 1 fixed on said stand I, said nut being provided with a hand-wheel 8 for turning the nut. The holder is fixed on the stand I.
Between the ends, suitably in the middle, the frames 2 and 3, which cross each other, are p'ivotably connected by a shaft 9, on which further is swingably mounted the one end of a pair of levers l0, provided with longitudinal grooves H, acting as a. guide for the shaft l2 of a roller l3. In the upper ends of the frames 2, 3 are turnably mounted other rollers l4 and I5. Around these rollers l4, l5 and the roller I 3 is arranged an endless conveyor [6. The conveyer may be given the necessary tension by making the roller 13 heavy enough or by ar- 2 ranging a spring between the shaft I2 of the roller I 3 and the stand I.
The stand I is at the short sides provided with ground-engaging supports consisting of screw- .spindles I8, suitably provided with rollers and turnable by means of hand wheels H.
The supporting device may be brought into the desired level by means of the setting-screw 6, as shown by full and dotted lines, and to the desired inclination position by means of the screw-spindles 18. One of the rollers l4, [5, for instance the roller I 4, may be driven from a motor [9, which is fixed on the frame 2 and the speed of which may be variable, so that the conveyer Hi can be driven with that speed, which is most suitable in each case.
Having now particularly described the nature of my invention and the manner of its operation what I claim is:
1. A portable supporting device for conveyors, comprising, two longitudinal frames arranged in cruciform, a common turning shaft pivotally connecting said frames with respect to each other between their ends, each of said frames on its one end having a conveyor roller rotatably mounted thereon, a stand supporting the other ends of each of said frames, said stand being provided with ground engaging supports, movable pivotal mounting means for mounting said other end of one of said frames on said stand, means for moving said movable pivotal mounting means toward and away from the corresponding end of said other frame, pivotal mounting means for mounting said corresponding end of said other frame on said stand, a lever pivotally supported at its one end on said common turning shaft, 9, rotatably mounted conveyor tensioning roller displaceable in the longitudinal direction of said lever and guiding means on said lever acting as a guide for said tensioning roller.
2. A portable supporting device as in claim 1 characterized in that said movable pivotal mounting means includes a screw, a nut receiving said screw, said nut being turnably mounted on said stand and means for turning said nut.
