Description
March 17, 1953 c. M. BESSERT RAZOR WITH A NEW AND USED BLADE HOLDER Filed Jan. 28, 1950 FIGS.
FIGZ.
ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 17, 1953 UNITED STATES rear aserss RAZOR V-VITH A NEW AND USED BLADE HOLDER Carl, M. Bessert, Lansing Application January 28, 1950, Serial No. 141,143
1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to razors, is particularly concerned with razor blades, is more parti'cularly concerned with razor blade holders, is still more particularly concerned with a magazine for containing new blades, a magazine for receiving used blades, and is most particularly concerned with a frame for holding each of the said holders.
In the prior art there are various magazines for containing new safety razor blades. One of these magazines which in combination with a safety razor are disclosed in U. S. Patent 1,969,945, and the said razor cooperates with the positioning means in being spread for reception of the blade and also functions when the magazine is withdrawn by moving the blade from the place where it was deposited by the magazine into a firm position for shaving. The magazine is adapted to hold a supply of blades and is equipped with means for forcing the blades out of the magazine. The feeding of the blades is in succession whereby the blades can be projected one at a time, from the magazine. the use of the razor and the magazine for containing the new blades as disclosed by the abovementioned patent, in that no provision is had for receiving the used blades upon being discharged from the razor.
t is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a magazine for receiving used razor blades. It is still a further object to provide a frame for holding the magazine containing new blades. It is a further object to provide a frame for holding the magazine for receiving used blades. It is still a further and important object to provide a frame for holding the two said magazines or holders, disposed on the said frame from each other the distance of the width of a safety razor head.
I have now discovered and invented a frame for holding the said magazines and the said magazines coact with each other and a razor, and I am now able to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art and am able readily to accomplish the objects set forth.
While some of the more outstanding features, and advantages of this invention have been hereinbefore indicated, others will become apparent from the following disclosures, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a front View of the device of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a view showing the magazine for con- There is a major objectionable feature in taining the new blades, the safety razor, and the magazine for receiving the used blades, with the said magazines swingably secured to the frame.
The numeral l designates the injector type safety razor. In the Fig. 3 the said razor is shown aligned on the frame 5 between the magazine for containing new razor blades, and the magazine 3 for receiving used razor blades. The frame 5 is constructed of transparent plastic material but may be constructed of any light and durable material such as any of the common metals. The magazine 2 has a slider 2a which provides means for ejecting the blade, one at a time from the said magazine and injecting the said blade into the razor.
The magazine 2 for containing new blades is swingably secured to the base of the frame 5 by means of the Dot type snap fastener 6. The magazine 3 for receiving used blades is also swingably secured to the base of the same frame by means of the Dot type snap fastener I. The extension 8 which is integral with the frame 5 and is provided as a steady rest for the magazine 3, which frame has a single wall. The member 9 is integral with the base of the frame 5 and is inclined as shown in the Figs. 1 and 3, in respect to the rest of the base. The numeral l0 designates the cutout portion of the base of the frame 5 to provide space for receiving the body or head of the razor.
In the use of the device of my invention the extension arm 4 of the magazine 2 for containing the new blades is pushed into the body of the razor I, and the magazine 2 is snapped to the fastener S. The body of the razor fits into the cutout portion It. The magazine 3 is snapped to the fastener i and is swiveled about the fastener against the extension 8.
The slider 2a is pushed against a new blade in the magazine 2 so that a new blade is pushed against the old blade in the razor. When the slide is pushed to the extreme left, the new blade is properly seated in the razor and the used blade has been pushed entirely into the magazine 3.
This invention as hereinbefore described provides not only a container for new blades but also provides a container for used blades, and has means for injecting the new blade into the body of a safety razor and means for ejecting the used blade from the safety razor and injecting the used blade into a magazine for used blades.
The magazine 2 is swingable so that the projecting arm 4 can be swung away from the frame 5 for inserting the said arm into a narrow space in the head of the razor.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 the member 9 is inclined and this permits the attachment of the magazine 3 in an inclined position on the frame 5. The inclined position of the said magazine is made necessary to permit easy access of the used blades into the magazine 3.
It will be noted that the magazine 3 is identical to the magazine 2, with the exception that the projecting finger has been removed from the magazine 3.
Having clearly set forth the construction, utility and advantages of my invention I wish particularly to state that it will be apparent that changes in the details of the construction and arrangement of the various members of the invention may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
In combination with a. razor, a blade holder, an elongated frame, the said frame having a 4 single wall and a base, a portion of the base having an inclined member, means for swingably securing the said blade holder to one end of the said base, a second blade holder, the said 7 REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
