This invention relates to folding boxes used plurally and it is an object to provide folding boxes in interlocking engagement or arrangement.

Another object is to provide a combined package comprising a plurality of interlocking engaging boxes.

A still further object is to provide combined boxes comprising a plurality of interlocking flaps.

Yet another object is to provide a combined package comprising a plurality of interlocking engaging boxes so that a number of similar or dissimilar articles may be presented in a joint package.

An even further object of this invention is to provide combined boxes so arranged that the boxes may be used individually.

Other objects and advantages will be in part obvious from the annexed drawings and in part hereinafter indicated in connection therewith by the following analysis of this invention.

This invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination of parts and in the unique relations of the members and in the relative proportioning and disposition thereof, all as more completely outlined herein.

To enable others skilled in the art so fully to comprehend the underlying features thereof that they may embody the same by the numerous modifications in structure and relation contemplated by this invention, a drawing depicting certain forms of the invention has been annexed as a part of this disclosure, and in such drawing, like characters of reference denote corresponding parts throughout all the views, of which- Fig. 1 is a plan view of a blank from which a box incorporating the invention is made and from which said box is folded into position.

Fig. 2 is a front view of the box in open position.

Fig. 3 is a side view of the box shown in, Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of two interlocking boxes incorporating the invention in partial interlocking engagement with another box.

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a combined box or package comprising a plurality of boxes in closed interlocking position, incorporating the invention.

Fig. 6 is a view similar to that of Fig. 5 except that the combined box or package comprises proportional boxes of different sizes; this view thus showing a modified form of the in vention.

Fig. 7 is a perspective view of still another modified form of box arrangement comprising the invention, showing a smaller box partially engaging a larger one in the same manner contemplated by this invention.

Fig. 8 is a perspective view of the box arrangement illustrated in Fig. 7 and shown in a more advanced interlocking position.

Fig. 9 is a perspective view of the box arrangement shown in Figs. 7 and 8, in closed interlocking position.

Fig. 10 is a perspective view of a combined box embodying the invention in a further modified form.

The advantages of the invention as here outlined are best realized when all of its features and instrumentalities are combined in one and the same structure.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains, that the same may be incorporated in several different constructions. The accompanying drawings, therefore, are submitted merely as showing the preferred exemplifications of the invention, and in such drawings, numeral l9 designates a blank having a flap 20 foldable on score line 20a. Panel 2| is connected to flap 20 and section 22 at fold or score lines 2011 and 2|a, respectively. Tab 3| is foldable and connected to section 22 at score line 22a. Section 22 is connected to sections 2|, 23 and 25 at score lines 21a, 23a and 25a, respectively. Panels 24 and 26 are connected to section 25 at 24a and 2611, respectively. Numeral 32 designates a cut-out separating sections 2| and 24; and numeral 33 is a cut-out separating sections 23 and 26. Cut- outs 34 and 35 separate panel or section 21a from sections 26 and 30 respectively. Section 21 is connected to sections 25 and 29 by score lines 25b and 21b, respectively. Sections 28 and 3|] are foldable and connected to section 29 at score lines at 290. and 30a.

In order to assemble the box A, flap 3| is fastened to section 29 either by glue, staples, or other means old in the art. Flap 20 is folded at 2001. and is tucked in between flaps 28, 24 and panel 21 in order to complete closure of one side of box 21 (this part of the assembling is not shown in the drawing). Back of flap 23 of box A is laid back to back with flap 2| of box B. Flaps 30 and 26 of box A are folded on their respective fold lines 30a and 2612 over flaps 2| of box B and 23 of box A. Flap 2| of box B is folded down on score line 2la and simultaneously flap 21a of box A is made to fold in line with score line 20a of box B. Flap 21a of box A is then tucked in between flaps 28, 24 and wall 21 all of which are part of box B; thus interlocking the box A and B in closed position. Boxes C and B are made to interlockingly engage each other in the same unique manner and method as heretofore described with relation to boxes A and B.

In Fig. 6 is shown a combined package comprising boxes D, E, and F in step relation, which are interlockingly engaged in the same manner as boxes, A, B and C.

In Figs. 7 and 8 there is shown a large oblong box G having the back of its flap or cover 3| swung back to back with flap or cover 32' of box H on its score or fold line 33' so that flap 34' of box G and flap 35 of box H snugly engage each other at their fold lines 36 and 31,. respectively Flaps 38 and 39 of box H are made to fold on their respective fold lines 40 and 41 so as to cover flaps or covers 3| and 32. Flaps 42 and 43 of box G are folded inwardly so that when box H, together with flap 3| of box G, is swung over on score line 33' of box G, folded flaps38 and 39 will falldirectly on top of folded flaps 42' and" 43 of box G. Finally,.fiap 44 abutting. flaps 35' and 34, of boxes H and G, respectively are pushed or slid in between flaps 42 and'43 and front wall 45 of box G, in order to completely interlock the boxes G andH in closed position as seen in Fig.9.

In Fig. 10, is shown another modification of the invention in which boxes J, K and L are assembled in the foregoing manner and arranged. in pyramidical form.

The boxes described and disclosed in this invention are novel in that they interlock one another and can be used separately. The various embodiments of. this invention shown in the drawings can be adapted forcarrying articles of merchandise of different sizes,, for example, such as shaving cream, safety razorholder andshaving brush;. lotion or toilet water and cream; or for carrying. articles of the same. size,. such as, soaps and. many other articles. There are also numerousother embodiments anticipated by thisin vention.

From-the foregoing description taken in conctio th he ssem a y ne drawings, i is apparent that an improved simple, practical and inexpensive package or combined box arrangement comprising a plurality of interlockingly engaging boxes for the purpose intended, is provided. It is apparent however, that immaterial changes and modifications may be made by skilled persons without departing from the true spirit and scope of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In combination, a plurality of folding boxes including a first and a second box, said first box having side walls and a bottom hinged to one of said side walls, said second box having side walls and a cover hinged to one of the last-mentioned side walls, other of said last-mentioned side walls having foldable extensions underlying said cover, other of the first-mentioned side walls having foldable extensions underlying said bottom and said cover and overlying said foldable extensions of said last-mentioned side walls, an. additional one of saidfirst-mentioned side walls being provided with a portion extending into the second box between said foldable extensions ofsaidlastmentioned side walls and an additional one of said last-mentioned side walls.

2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said cover and said bottom are substantially co-extensive.
