'2 Claims. (01. 129-20) 1 The present invention relates to storage albums; that is, albums wherein such articles as fiat phonograph record discs'may be stored. In albums of this general type, it is highly desirable that the individual album leaves or disc-holding receptacles lie flatly against one another when the'album cover is opened, and'also swing easily against and away from each other to permit easy inspection of and access to the separate leaves. The foregoing and other objects of the present invention will in part be apparent and in part pointed out specifically in connection with the following description of an illustrative embodiment thereof, it being understood that articles other than phonograph record discs may be stored within the album of the present invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of device constructed according to and embodying the present invention in open position;

Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof, partly in section, with the upper bracket broken away to show the lower bracket, with the individual leaves spaced away from each other;

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the hinge clip component of my invention.

The album proper is indicated by reference numeral l0 and comprises side panels I2, l4, and back panel 16, to which back panel the cover panels are pivotally connected at l8, l8. The sides and back may be formed of three elements of relatively thick, heavy material, as cardboard, fibre board, wood, metal or the like, to protect the albums contents, but may also be formed of a single sheet of material of leather, synthetic plastic or the like, scored at l8, l8 for hinging to permit swinging of the side panels l2, l4 with respect to the back panel I6. As seen in Figure 3, the hinge clip mounted at the lower inner corner of container 30 is secured thereto by inserting both sheets of the container corner between the spread-apart wings 52, and through the

32, 32. The upper hinge clip is locked to but one of the sheets, since, in the form of container shown, the sheets must be separable if access is to be had from the top. Of course, as will be obvious, the containers may be so constructed that the front edge is open, in which case the upper clip will be secured about both sheets, as at the bottom of Figure 3.

Having now described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

1. A rectangular envelope open at the top thereof and a support clip therefor, the clip comprising a pair of relatively wide, flat plates of springy metallic material, the plates being integral and connected along corresponding edges, one of which plates is wider than the other and has a portion thereof extended beyond the narrower plate, a hollow circular pin integral with the wider plate and extending upwards of and beyond the aforesaid connected corresponding edges, in line with the extended portion of the wider plate, the narrower plate being inserted within the envelope through the open top thereof and bendable into confronting relationship to the wider plate, whereby to grip the envelope between the two plates.

2. The combination of claim 1, wherein the extended portion of the wider plate is bent at right angles to the plane of said plate, and the edge of the envelope adjacent the open top rests against the bend.
